We are Michael and Christine, married for over 40 years with two grown-up children, who no longer live with us, and one grand-daughter. We are retired professionals - Michael, an engineer and Christine, a university research assistant. Michael is a keen sailor and golfer, while Christine enjoys the outdoors and is an active volunteer at the Melbourne Museum and at the Australian Gardens branch of the Melbourne Botanical Gardens, while continuing her university interests.
An extension of our sailing interests is part ownership of a canal boat in France, as a result of which we currently spend one month each year in France, usually preceded or followed by two to four weeks exploring some other part of Europe. It is this opportunity to see other parts of the world, and the desire to be more than "just fly-by-night tourist" that has led us to undertake house swapping.
We have experienced two home exchange, one in New Zealand and the other in Wales, United Kingdom. We are also actively participants in Couchsurfing activities where we host overseas visitors to Australia for short periods, and we have stayed with Couchsurfing members while travelling in Europe.

Beliggenhet
Beskrivelse av vårt nabolag og området rundt
Our home is in the quiet bay-side suburb of Beaumaris about 20km by road from the city of Melbourne. We are well serviced by public transport: a 10 minute bus trip to the train station for a 30 minute journey to the city and beyond. We enjoy the short walk to the beach and shops, and the opportunity to ride our bikes on the flat terrain.

Våre tips til steder å gå og ting å gjøre mens du bor i vårt hjem
The main local attractions include sailing, swimming, fishing, golf, tennis, bowls etc or just plain walking. Dining is a favourite pastime and there is a variety of restaurants locally and elsewhere. Further afield, but not very far, are a wide range of things to see and do ranging from trips to the hills or mountains (including some skiing), animal sanctuaries, The Great Ocean Road (a must-do for all visitors to Victoria), desert regions and so on.
Melbourne is a friendly city and has been voted "the world's most livable city" for several years. It is very cosmopolitan with lots of things to do, and visitors are well looked after.
Hva vi liker, hva vi ikke liker ... Her er våre preferanser og husordensregler.
We are pretty flexible, so long as our home is treated with the care and respect that we expect from exchangers.
