This old stone house, right in the center of the village, was completely renovated five years ago. We have friendly neighbors, both French and English speakers, and are surrounded by lovely countryside, filled with white Charolais cattle in the summer. The roads are peaceful and perfect for walking and cycling. There are also many walking routes in the area. Just thirty minutes south is the wine country of Macon and the Beaujolais, with many vineyards and wine tasting places. And the picturesque medieval town of Cluny, with its abbey and shops and farmers' market, is just 10 miles east. About seven miles west of us is another small town with shops and a supermarket. Forty minutes south is a TGV (high speed) train station where you can catch a train to Paris (1.5 hour journey), or Avignon (3 hours) or Nice (6 hours), to name just a few .

The entrance to our house on the street level goes directly into a large eat-in kitchen (originally the baker's shop) where there is a table with eight chairs around it. The all-electric kitchen is modern with dishwasher, microwave, induction hob, oven, and fridge freezer. Next to the kitchen there is a garage with washer/dryer, another fridge and freezer, and the oil furnace. The back door in the kitchen leads out to a patio/garden with eating spaces and some flower beds.
A flight of seven steps rises up from the kitchen to the next floor where there are two bedrooms (one king bed, one double), a shower room, and a large family room with TV/DVD, books, desk and the original front door which leads out to a small verandah and stone steps down to the street. There is good fast internet and Wifi.
From the landing on this floor there are four more steps that go up to the second level which contains the salon, a studio with double sofa bed and another shower room.
The house is open plan with doors only on the bedrooms and bathrooms and all the floors, except the two bedrooms, are tiled. There is good oil central heating for cool weather, and thick stone walls and good insulation and shutters that keep out the heat, if necessary. The whole house is light, airy and peaceful, with views either of the village street, the countryside or the garden.
