Winter Adventure! Visit Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada....45 minutes from Sun Peaks (Canada's Second Largest Ski Area)

Description of Kamloops Home we are offering for exchange...January 2019 to March 2019 (minimum 2 months):

We live in a new and very safe and friendly neighbourhood, close to the Kamloops airport (5 minute drive), with flights arriving from and departing to Calgary and Vancouver daily. We are also just a walk away from the Thompson River and its walking trails! Throughout the winter Eagles love to perch in the trees along the walkway!

We enter our home on the lower floor with the main living area upstairs. Our main living area, upstairs, includes an open concept living room, dining room and kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and a den (TV room). Our entry floor includes a work out room/craft room/office (with a TV), laundry room, 1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom, a small rec room/play area, and a workshop. We also have a large deck (accessible from the dining room and from outside, stairs from the garden area) and a double car garage with a door into the rec room/play area. We have a private back yard a quiet neighbourhood, lovely neighbours, and are close to shopping and very near a bus stop (Kamloops has a very good bus service within the city.).

We are very close to Sun Peaks which has activities year round, but is a skier’s paradise in winter. We are an easy drive (45 minutes) to the Sun Peaks ski resort, which is renowned as Canada’s second largest ski resort. There is a shuttle from Kamloops to the ski hill on the weekends. All winter activities are offered at Sun Peaks , snow boarding, skiing, snow shoeing, skating, Nordic/cross country skiing, and tubing, to mention a few!

Other ski areas very near Kamloops are Stake Lake and Harper Mountain.
Stake Lake is 30 minutes from Kamloops and provides a rustic country feel for Nordic/cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Harper Mountain, 20 minutes from Kamloops, is a family winter adventure park for sliding, tubing, snowboarding, and skiing. Harper Mountain is also great for night skiing and night tubing.
At our home we have snow shoes and cross country skis available for your use.

Kamloops itself offers a wonderful variety of winter activites. There are several good ice fishing lakes. As well Kamloops has a large center (TCC) with a swimming pool, walking track, and exercise equipment! Tennis, whiffle ball and curling are great team sports available throughout the winter for exercise and meeting and mixing! Kamloops is a university town (TRU University) and throughout winter their basketball teams provide great entertainment. Kamloops also boasts a very competitive Junior Hockey Team, the Kamloops Blazers, who play in the Western Hockey League (WHL), competing with teams from Victoria on Vancouver Island, Vancouver, the Western USA, the Interior of BC, and Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba!

Kamloops is a community of approximately 100,000 people! In addition to the sporting facilities, Kamloops has a lot to offer someone who enjoys fine arts, shopping, fine wines and dining, and gambling. There are two Casinos in Kamloops, a Costco, our Sagebrush Theatre, Kamloops symphony, a large cinema, numerous restaurants , a great variety of shopping, and several local wineries in the area!

Kamloops is a 4 hour drive from Vancouver on an excellent freeway, and it is within a day’s drive to the world famous Rocky Mountain ski resorts of Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise. Kamloops is also a 1 ½ hour drive from the famous Okanagan Valley and the cities of Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton, and the well known ski hills that all these communities have to offer!
