We are an international family half belgian, half american with one boy studying chemical engineering in UK and one girl still in secondary school. I am retired since february last year and was working as a process engineer in a food company. My american wife works in the international finance sector.
Usually, we have a dog (golden retriever) with us when we travel.
I am learning spanish.
We have been ten years ago frequent house exchangers.

Large dining & living room communicating with a fully equipped kitchen on ground floor + small garden
First floor with 2 bedrooms, play room and bathroom with bath tub (this floor is used by our kids)
Second floor with 1 bedroom (queen size bed), office , gym and bathroom with large shower (this floor is used by the parents)
Third floor with 1 bedroom (2 single beds) and bath room (this floor is for guests).

You may alternate selfcooking in the house and eating out in the neighbourhood or downtown after a visit. There are numerous good restaurants in Brussels of which we provide a list in the guest book of the house.

Our house is just outside the city center of Brussels in the first band of green suburbs, with easy access by public transportation to all cultural activities. It is also possible in a day trip by train to visit other historic Belgian towns such as Brugge, Gent and Antwerpen. These Belgian towns can be visited on a one day schedule each.
Paris, London, Amsterdam, Cologne are reachable in a few hours with high speed trains. Foresee 2 or 3 days for a visit of each of these capitals after arranging for your night accommodation.
