Our home is an ideal base from which to explore the NE of Scotland and the Highlands. The Speyside Whisky Trail is on our doorstep with the Scottish National Trust Castle Trail less than an hour away. Walkers are well rewarded with stunning established routes along the coastline of Moray and Banffshire taking in quaint old fishing villages, interesting coves, and sea cliffs teeming with sea birds, miles of golden sand and seascapes with magical dolphin displays (not guaranteed!) Various boats take visitors on wild life or sea fishing trips.
Further afield we have easy access to Royal Deeside and Balmoral Castle ( the royal family`s highland retreat), the Cairngorm National Park with their magnificent peaks, heather clad glens and tumbling rivers and lochs. Day trips can take in most of the Scottish Highlands, but exploring the NW Highlands and Inner Hebrides would best be achieved by an overnight stay.
