We are retired and live active lives. We lived and worked in San Francisco and Silicon Valley for 45 years. Upon retiring, we moved to Asheville NC in 2012. Lindley volunteers as a member of the County Library Board. Mary volunteers for the Literacy Council tutoring children having difficulty learning to read. We enjoy traveling and have averaged 8-12 weeks per year traveling since we retired.

Near central Asheville, next to Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village and Blue Ridge Parkway. NC Arboretum, Smokey Mtn Park, National Forests, hiking, waterfalls, Appalacian Trail, Black Mountain, museums, golf, breweries, wineries, UNC Asheville & OLLI. Asheville is a music and crafts hub and #1 Brew Pub city in US. Airports: AVL, GSP, CLT, ATL. Asheville & the Blue Ridge Parkway are second only to Vermont for Fall foilage viewing (Usually in mid October.)

Biltmore Forest is a very small town which has maintained the forest environment. It is adjacent to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village. It is near the center of Asheville. The Blue Ridge Parkway has an exit for Biltmore Forest. We see wild turkey and deer often. We've identified over 40 birds that visit our bird feeders.

Earlier this year, Travel + Leisure magazine named Asheville the tenth best city to visit in the US and Canada. Asheville is the #1 Brewing City in the US. There are also several distilleries & wineries. Asheville's historic and architecturally diverse downtown has been beautifully preserved. There are more than 30 art galleries and there are many studios open to the public in the River Arts District downtown. For a small city the culinary offerings are very cosmopolitan. There is something interesting to see or do, inside or outside every day. The following attractions a very short list. We can provide more information if you are interested in visiting.
Other attractions include The Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokey Mtn Park, Appalacian Trail, Mt Pisgah, DuPont Forest State Park, and the waterfalls in Transylvania County.
