We are a family of five, although our daughters have already left home for university and therefore will probably not travel with us on a summer holiday. We have been successfully exchanging for over 15 years now with never a bad experience, but loads of wonderful ones. Our tomcat Rufus appreciates a careful cuddle (British shorthair).

Thank you Uta and Maik for sharing your home with us. We loved exploring the beautiful and very varied city of Rostock as well as enjoying beach days on the Baltic Coast. The proximity to Berlin meant we could visit quite easily, a big plus for us, but we also found plenty to do in the local area. A special thanks for making our grandson Jack so welcome. Cot and highchair were a big help and enjoyed a lovely family holiday together ( with Rufi,the cat!)

We loved our time at Uta and Maik's comfortable and unusual home and they'd generously left a lot of provisions for us when we arrived. Its position is superb, in the old town, and all of Rostock is easily available on foot. When we were too tired to walk any more it was nice to chill out on the sunny balcony. It's also easy to reach seaside towns on the beautiful Baltic coast. A very enjoyable holiday.

We had a wonderful time in this charming house in Rostock. The house was situated in a very central part of the city but it was very quiet. We spent a lot of time walking around in the city and alsa along the nice beaches in the area. A train trip to Berlin was one of the highlights, it took just two hours. We will definitely come back to this area again. Thanks a lot for this swap!

The four pillars of the succes of the exchanges are as follows : - The house. The house is nice, being a mixture of modern architecture and 18th century furniture. The location is perfect, for the house is situated in the east part of the historical centre, adjecent to one of the famous churches in town. The garden is wonderfull: located at (or almost on) the medieval brick wall, dominated by herbs and fruit trees, with a huge terrace - Additional services. Wonderful home made jams, best we have tasted in years. Incredible amount of maps, description of trips and loads of information. Very good bikes, good wifi, pleasant beds and matrasses - Experiences. There’s a lot of things to do in Rostock and near the coast. Interesting musea in Rostock and cities nearby, extraordinary nature reserves and other area of outstanding natural beauty, charming coastal towns and so on - The family is very warm, generous and welcoming, really a pleasure to deal with

La nostra casa

Quiet lower maisonette of detached three-storey/two-family modern house in historic Hanseatic city centre, 5 minutes on foot to the town hall and market place, two hours to Berlin or Hamburg, two hours by ferry to DK, 20 minutes to the beautiful Baltic Sea with its white sandy beaches and cliffs. In our new garden we have a small terrace for great summer breakfasts in the morning sun. Though you can walk everywhere in the city from our house, it is still very quiet. There is a playground practically at the back of our garden, just down the road.
The town port (10 minutes walk) has nice restaurants.
We have 120 sqm with three bedrooms for 6 people, but there are 2 extra sofa beds for 4 more people, if necessary.

Though we do not have a TV, we do have a dvd watching facility and many dvds as well as a fast internet.

I nostri consigli su cosa non perdere in questa zona

5 Minutes walk into city centre with shops, cafes, cinemas and museums as well as to the old town port with many restarurants and a view of ships and yachts. 20 Minuten by car to the beach. 2 Stunden by car to Berlin or Hamburg. 1 hour to the Hanseatic towns of Wismar, Stralsund and Lübeck with attractions (zoo in Rostock, Ozeaneum museum in Stralsund, spa in Wismar and Stralsund etc.)

2 Stunden mit der Fähre nach Dänemark, dann noch eine halbe Stunde bis zum Knutenborg Safari Park.
