Glasgow is a,wonderful city. Not everyone knows most of the museums have free admission and a really good transport network. It was also helpful that Cindy and Douglas had left clear instructions on how to get around, both in the city and to other areas of Scotland. We tended to stay fairly local as we'd lived on the east coast of Scotland for many years but hadn't explored Glasgow. We did visit the wonderful Kelpies though (do Google for further info) and visited my grandparents' home in Gourock from which we caught a ferry to Dunoon. Our strongest recommendation would be Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery which is just wonderful and has something to offer the whole family. The Riverside Museum which is essentially a transport museum and The People's Palace which outlines the cultural history of the city are both fascinating. Just as well we like museums as it did rain rather a lot. Nice to return to a welcoming house though.
We crammed in as much as possible and really didn't want to leave so we're now planning a repeat exchange with Cindy, Douglas, Dotty and Alistair next year.
