Our house is in the quiet village of Guilden Sutton just 3 miles from the beautiful walled Roman city of Chester. The city attracts visitors from around the world (www.visitcheshire.com/chester) and is a good base for visits to Wales (20 mins drive), Ireland (Return flights to Dublin from Liverpool cost approx £45, duration 50 mins) and the Lake District (2 hrs drive). There are excellent train connections from Chester to Liverpool (45mins), Manchester (1 hr) and London (2 hours) and we are only 10 minutes drive away from the UK motorway network.

Manchester & Liverpool Airports are 45 minutes drive away. Low cost flights from these airports are easily available to other parts of the UK and Europe.

Our village has a small shop, hairdressers and a quintessential English Pub (http://birdinn.co.uk/ ) which serves excellent food. There is a lovely traffic-free cycle path which runs into the city and beyond to the River Dee and the Welsh countryside. Numerous picturesque country walks and footpaths can be found all around this area and we would be happy to recommend walks and cycles that we love.

CHESTER - Take a 2 mile walk around the most complete Roman city walls in Britain built 2000 years ago and admire the beautiful heritage of Chester with its Amphitheatre and unique 700 year old black and white timbered buildings. Observe the hawk flying displays as you visit the magnificent 1000 year old Cathedral. We have sensational shops, restaurants, festivals, indoor & outdoor theatres and cinemas and a host of museums. Enjoy the thrill of thundering horses or watch international polo at the Racecourse (https://www.chester-races.com) or relax as you take a sail down the River Dee.
