Our dike house (1936, 160m2, frontside not on one of the enclosed pictures) is situated in Nieuwendam, the best kept secret of Amsterdam. With it's old pittoresque dike houses, you'll feel like being on the country side. There are two parks within walking distance, one including a brand new tennis court. You can make beautiful bike tours along the lakes and in the typical Dutch polder landscape with its atmospheric little villages, like Broek in Waterland, Zunderdorp and Durgerdam. Het Sluisje (see link) at the harbour with its sailing boats, further down our street, is one of the loveliest bars in town. Only 2 km's away is a large shopping area.

Amsterdam Noord is the uprising part of creative and dynamic Amsterdam with small and international creative companies. Consequently, new restaurants and cultural life develops, like Hotel de Goudfazant, Stork Fish restaurant, IJ-Kantine and Noorderlicht. The new pride of Amsterdam Noord and must see, is Eye
