The amazing Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum is an easy bike ride along the river or two minutes by car. Stop off for a famous Burleigh pie on the way. There are plenty of wineries with private and group tours. Or there are a couple of lovely wineries that are very bikeable from our house. White's Bay is a great swimming beach about 20 minutes by car, and there is the incredible Marlborough Sounds half an hour away. Lots to do and see in the Sounds that can suit any age or interest. Alpine lakes at St Arnaud are an hour away with some amazing walks through the Beech forest. Kaikoura is two hours away and does whale watching year round. There are also plenty of golf courses.
