Easy going, friendly, well travelled couple who love to share food and wine with friends and family. We live in Italy - we mostly exchange our apartment in Italy, Europe and Near Eastern countries now. We welcome all sorts of exchanges. We sometimes travel with 1 or more of our adult children who like to join us on holiday - Julian who is a Bioinformatician in Basel, Switzerland, and Damien who is and Engineer in Sustainable Energy and Water who lives in TrePorti near Venice. We are also Historical Costumiers who design and make Costumes for Venice Carnevale - we have an Instagram page Costumes_in_Venice where you can see lots of photos of Venice and our Costumes

Descrizione della casa che offriamo
Our apartment is 100sqm with 3 large bedrooms (2 are available during home exchanges), sitting room, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, bathroom with shower, a beautiful terrace overlooking the rooftops of Venice
More photos will be published soon - I just have not had the chance to take them yet
We are - MEMBERS SINCE 2008 - Experienced exchangers 10++, and have made lifelong friends along the way
We like to exchange in Europe, North Africa, Egypt, Mid East - please contact us - we like to be surprised!!! We seek an exchange each year in Europe. We also like to do an exchange over the Christmas period - either in a ski resort or somewhere in Southern Europe or North Africa where it is warmer
Spacious bright apartment in Venice, in the middle of a quiet area of Castello/San Marco - 5 mins walk from Piazza San Marco. We have a beautiful little terrace that is an oasis in Venice and wonderful for morning coffees and evening aperativi (in the spring, summer and autumn months the plants need watering lots! but they reward you with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and roses) Via Garibaldi is near for vibrant evening socialising, restaurants etc. One of the best restaurants in Venice is just downstairs. Our nearest Vaporetto stops are Arsenale and San Zaccaria. The whole of Historical Venice is at your doorstep within a few minutes walk or vaporetto ride.
We have a small dog named Nigel - he is a rescue but we do not need dog sitting in Venice
We are usually two people - Iain and Fiona - but occasionally may be with our grown up "children" Damien (45) who is a professional engineer living near Venice in TrePorti (beaches), and Julian (35) who is a Bioinformatician in Basel, Switzerland

I nostri consigli su cosa non perdere in questa zona
Piazza San Marco - Basilica San Marco, Doge's Palace, Correr Museum, and surrounding museums and art galleries are 5 minutes walk
Academia/San Stefano - Academia Gallery, Guggenheim (Peggy's place), Santa Maria della Salute
Really the whole of historical Venice is within your reach and there are too many sites to list
The beauty of Venice, its uniqueness and its peculiar tradition can not be expressed just in words - one must savour it's food and wine, wallow in it's hospitality, tread it's worn alleys, and gaze in wonder at it's faded glory.
We have a list of our favourite restaurants and cafes - ranging from simple little places where you can enjoy a glass of wine and some cicchetti for 1 or 2 Euros, to very smart but typically Venetian restaurants.
"An orange gem resting on a blue glass plate: it’s Venice seen from above." Henry James - Aspern Papers
"This was Venice, the flattering and suspect beauty – this city, half fairy tale and half tourist trap, in whose insalubrious air the arts once rankly and voluptuously blossomed, where composers have been inspired to lulling tones of somniferous eroticism." Thomas Mann

Please check our exchange preferences below -
We have made lifelong friends through Home Link
We can only exchange at Christmas time plus the months of November and March, April depending on the dates of Venice Carnevale as we are very involved with Historical Costuming - at other time we rent out 1 of our rooms on a different site if you are interested
Common sense rules really - Please use our home as you would your own. Leave it clean and tidy and put the rubbish out. If you require cleaning I can arrange that but it would be up to to pay the cleaner. Our apartment here in Venice - furnishings are very simple but comfortable at the moment so no need to fret about antiques etc. The linen is top quality. Please try to be quiet at night as Venice is not a late night party town
Above All Enjoy!
