I am a professor & will be spending August at Carnegie Mellon University. I'm looking for a home exchange not too far from campus. My Paris home has a very-well equipped kitchen, a light-filled livingroom with large flat-screen TV, and a dining room that seats 6 to 8 people. A hallway leads to the master bedroom, and a second bedroom large enough to also have space for a study. Both bedrooms have queen-size beds. The bathroom has a full-size tub, washer /dryer, and large window onto a small courtyard. All rooms have French doors leading to the balcony, some of which still have the gorgeous original window fittings (like the mermaid window pull in the pictures below). Windows on both sides allow for a cooling breeze at night but there is also that rarity in Paris of air conditioning! .
I have made 9 successful exchanges over the years, and will take perfect care of your home, as I hope you will of mine.

Descrizione del vicinato e dei paraggi
Within 5 minutes on foot are a twice-weekly organic farmer's market, a famous bakery (with a line out the door every morning), old-fashioned butcher, cheese monger, fishmonger, a famous chocolate roaster (!), and several exceptional wine stores. Around the corner is a Michelin-starred restaurant; several others are within a 15 minute walk. For more casual dining, there are several excellent bistros on the same street. A slightly longer walk takes you to the famous (and in my opinion the best) outdoor market in Paris, the Marché d'Aligre, which is active every day except Monday.
Of course food is not the only interesting thing to do in Paris (or so I hear), and my part of the 11th is also famous for parks, for historical buildings (including a convent built in 1412. famous for the invention of lavender eau de parfum), a perfectly-restored antique working carousel, and for a number of excellent music venues - including the Bataclan right down the street from me (also now infamous, sadly enough, for the 2015 Bataclan terrorist attack).
A 10 minute bike ride takes you to the Cirque d'Hiver, one of the oldest remaining functioning circuses. It is largely quiet in summer, but the next-door Clown Bar is famous in its own right. In under 10 minutes you also arrive at Jim Morrison's tomb and other famous tombs in the Père Lachaise cemetary.
The place de la Bastille is a 15 minute walk with its own outdoor market, cafés and newly renovated access to the Canal St. Martin and the Seine.
Line 9 of the métro is steps away, line 8 is a 10 minute walk, and other subway lines are within a 15 minute walk. This is the beating heart of Paris!

I nostri consigli su cosa non perdere in questa zona
You can walk most anywhere in Paris from the apartment, and the 11th is so rich that it's tempting to stay put, pick up excellent ingredients and dine out on the balcony. However, if you wish to venture further afield, in the past year dedicated bike lanes were added to most of the major streets in the 11th arrondissment which gives you an easy way to ride to Place de la Bastille and the Paris Opera (7 minutes by bike from the apartment), and the chic Marais neighborhood with its museums, galleries, and boutique shopping (10 minutes by bike) among other nearby attractions.
If you're planning trips to the country, the Gare de Lyon (with trains to Lyon, Marseille and Nice, among other cities) is only 10 minutes by bike, as is the Gare de Bercy, which takes you to Burgundy. The Gare d'Austerlitz (which takes you to the Loire Valley with its chateaux) is right across the bridge from the Gare de Lyon.
Cosa ci piace, cosa non gradiamo… Ecco le regole in casa nostra.
No smoking is allowed in any part of the apartment. In case you have allergies, please be aware that I have a cat (although he will not be there when you are there).
