Our second home in Northern France is in the middle of the tranquil, rolling Normandy countryside and within easy driving distance of the coast. The house is in a tiny hamlet la Rainfresene 2 kms from the bourg (large village) of Brecey where there are shops, bars, cafes, banks and a market every Friday. Mont Saint Michel, the most visited tourist site outside of those in Paris is a 45 minute drive. Famous D day beaches and world war sites are all within easy driving distance. Our nearby towns of Villedieu and Avranches are typical of the region, both have weekly markets and interesting old streets. Avranches is in a picturesque location at the top of a hill overlooking the Mont St Michel Bay. It is also home to our favourite, very friendly restaurant.
