From our home there are pleasant rural walks to a beautiful lookout over the hills and towards the sea as well as through lush dairy country. It is a 5 minute drive to the township of Maleny, where there are good shopping facilities, lovely book shops, galleries, coffee shops, restaurants and award winning ice cream! There is a wheelchair friendly rainforest walk close to town and many more challenging rainforest walks with hills, rock pools and waterfalls. The beautiful Sunshine Coast region stretching from Caloundra ( 35 minutes drive) north to Noosa has wonderful surfing beaches, extensive markets and interesting hinterland townships. Brisbane (Queensland's capital city) with its many city attractions is 11/2 hours away by car or train. If you wish to venture further afield , there are tours available that leave from the Sunshine Coast for the beautiful World Heritage listed Fraser Island and further north it is easy to get to the southern most islands of the Great Barrier Reef.
