They allowed us to bring our dog for which we are very grateful and were great to organise the exchange with. There are many lovely places to visit and some fantastic countryside. Thanks for a great exchange :-)

Read More...Thank you Gemma, Steve, Eve & Vic for making us feel so welcome in your lovely home. We felt very settled and enjoyed relaxing and playing with the great range of toys and games you have in the house and garden. Your gorgeous rabbit Bouncer was an added bonus and was very popular with all of us. Your house is really convenient for local shops and is close to the countryside, with really easy access to lots of beautiful places in the Peak District, which we thoroughly enjoyed exploring during our stay. Thank you again.

Read More...Thanks to Steve, Gemma, Eve and Vic for letting us stay in their lovely house from which we explored a wide area. We enjoyed looking after Bouncer and Blizzard, their two delightful rabbits, who were no trouble at all. We would recommend this house to anyone wanting to be within reach of Derby, the Peak District, the National Memorial Arboretum and several lovely National Trust properties. We had a great week.

Description de notre maison d'échange
INTERESTED IN UK OFFERS FOR AUGUST 2024
ALWAYS OPEN TO OFFERS and always reply to requests. Beyond UK, we are looking to travel during school holidays.
We are a family of four with an adult daughter and 15 year old son and have undertaken many fantastic exchanges.
For UK swaps we prefer to take our dog along; she is very well behaved. Similarly behaved family dogs are welcome to our home but we do have a few house rules for the dog.
We are interested in any UK offers, if anyone fancies a weekend in beautiful Derbyshire, Peak District within easy driving or train travel to Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham, Stratford on Avon... We are also within 1.5 hours of York and Manchester and about 1h 40m to London.
Our home is a lovely 3 bedroomed, 1930s property with a good garden and parking for 3 cars. All bedrooms are doubles and we have a pull out single futon mattress for use if required.
Easy access to Peak District, Alton Towers, Matlock Bath, Dovedale, Bakewell, Cannock Chase and several fantastic National Trust properties / parks: Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey, Hardwick House to name a few. For home based fun, we have plenty of games, TVs, and two games consoles; outdoors we have a table tennis table, footballs, goals and basketball net.
We also have wi-fi with a PS5 & XBox One which you are welcome to use.
Netflix and the usual TV channels available.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
Our area is on the outskirts of Derby and benefits from very good bus links as a result. However, we are also only 2 minutes from open fields and farmland, cycle tracks and the countryside! We think we have the best of both.
For tourists to the UK, we are perfectly located for exploring England and Wales. From Derby to London is 1h30m by train to King's Cross St Pancras. Stratford Upon Avon, home of Shakespeare, is a 45 minute drive; Liverpool, Beatles birthplace is an hour away; historic York, beautiful Bath and Bristol are all a possible day trip with drives between 1h45 and 2h15 minutes. For those who really want to explore, it is possible to reach north Wales in 2 hours.
Derbyshire itself is a beautiful county with a wonderful mix of historic places such as Matlock Bath, various National Trust properties (Chatsworth House to name but one) amazing countryside for walkers and cyclists and theme parks such as Alton Towers or for the brave, quad biking etc at Brailsford Wild Park.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
We are within a short walk of friendly local pubs and eating places. Within 15 minutes drive, you can reach National
Trust properties such as Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and a little further will take you to Chatsworth House. We are 30 minutes from The Peak District national park with wonderful walks for all ages and abilities and amazing English scenery! Brewery is big round here and Burton is home to the national brewery museum.
We are also less than 45 minutes from Shakespeare’s Stratford Upon Avon, Uttoxeter Race Course, Alton Towers Amusement and Leisure Park.
