Local area has many sights to enjoy and the nearby town has ample shopping and restaurants. Recommended highly.

Close to Kahurangi National Park there are numerous walks (guided if required) and flights over the Park and surrounding areas. If fishing is your thing, there are guides who will take you to local rivers or fly you around the region to other good fishing spots. Tours are available daily to Farewell Spit which protrudes from northern Golden Bay 26 kms into Tasman Bay. It is a dune covered spit with numerous bird colonies. Horse Treks are also available around the Spit and surrounding beaches. Pupu Springs are reached via a boardwalk through native bush to the Southern Hemisphere's biggest cold water springs with some of the clearest water in the world. Westhaven Inlet marine reserve along the western coast provides good driving and walking tracks and beaches including Wharariki Beach which is a very pleasant walk across farmland to scenic rock formations and large sand dunes. Rural cafes like the "Possum Cafe" and "Mussel Inn" are some of the small local cafes.
