We are a middle aged, working professional couple. Our two kids are gone and living overseas, so we are luxuriating in this stage of life. We moved into our new built home 18 months ago, and are ready to spend a bit more time exploring Aotearoa / New Zealand. And of course, house and car swaps sound like an excellent way of doing that.
We usually take a couple of weeks off work at Christmas, so that can be a good time, if you want to come to Nelson. Easter, Labour weekend & the Auckland/Nelson anniversary & Waitangi Day are also good options.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
We are in a brand new subdivision. It easy, flat, 700 metres to the movie theatre and restaurant, 700 meters to the local cafe, which has a Sprig and Fern pub next door, and 700 metres to the local McDonalds. BUT ... keep going past McD's and you'll find a much better range of restaurants in Richmond, with 3 Thai, 1 Indian, a takeaway roast house and a really good kebab shop, in another 600 metres. We have a winery within walking distance, 900 metres, but there are better ones to visit. Seifreids is an easy 10 minute drive.
Beaches. Nelsonians are very passionate about which beach is best, so I'll stay away from that fight.
Tahunanui is 10-15 minutes drive down the motorway (Whakatu Drive). It's shallow, calm, and has a lot of activities around it e.g. playgrounds, bumper boats, Go Karts, 1 cafe on the beach and cafes, pubs, takeaways etc etc nearby.
Rabbit Island is a 15 minute drive (just past Seifreids) and is a wilder beach (but still has three toilet blocks), about 7 kms long. It has a massive grassy, picnic area, and slightly bigger waves.
Kaiteriteri Beach is 40 minutes away, on the other side of Motueka, so a day trip. This and Marahau are the gateway beaches to the Abel Tasman, so have water taxis, jet boats and all that kind of fun stuff.
Richmond township is walkable (but we usually drive), and has shops, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, 3 supermarkets and the regions only mall.
Nelson City is a 25 minute drive, and has better restaurants & cafes, more shops, lots of art galleries (all little ones) and all the usual stuff you'll find in a small city.
Ce qu'on apprécie, ce qu'on apprécie moins… Voici nos préférences et nos règles de maison.
We would prefer couples only, no children or pets. Simultaneous house and car swap essential.
