We are 60 and 62 years old . I am retired now and before I was Director of a music and dance conservatory. My husband, Olivier, still works in Lyon Opera house as timpanist. We have 3 independant children and a grand son and we will very pleased if one of our daughters could come and visit us in Scotland with his husband and her son, for a week...We are very fond of art exhibitions, operas, trekking and cycling in foreign countries. When we were younger, we have made many house exchanges with Homelink but then we have stopped when the children became teenagers. We are now very pleased to exchange home again and we hope it will be as nice as previously.

Sylvie and Oliver's home provided us with the perfect exchange to explore the beautiful city of Lyon and the Rhone Alpes Region.The house was spotlessly clean and has everything to make a very happy family holiday with safe gardens and loads of toys and books for children.It has beautiful views over the charming farming countryside and a short distance from the famous Vineyards of the Rhone.Lyon is beautiful city and steeped in history and we spent a few days exploring the old region in the centre and the great restaurants.We travelled and stayed in Chambery, Aix Les Baines, Annecy, Geneva, Nyon, Lusanne and Divonne Les Baines, We had a wonderful and memorable holiday exploring this fantastic region of France.We will carry the memories with us ever.Very Big thanks to Sylvie and Oliver.

Notre maison

Description de notre maison d'échange

Built in 1992, the 230m² detached house is at the end of a private road with a lovely view and a large garden. The home is very pleasant with a lot of pine beams, many pictures, nice furniture in a country life style. The living room is cosy and 2 steps lower the main entrance. The kitchen has a large window facing to the south. Each double bedroom is pleasant and the bathroom is equipped with an italian shower and a bathtub too. Children are welcome and they will have a lot of books and nice toys to discover on the mezzanine. The house is particularly pleasant in summer with its 2 terraces where you can take every meal for at this period we have the same climate as in Provence.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours

Our neighbourhood is very quiet and the main avantage is the very beautiful view toward the south of the Rhone valley and the west with the Mont Pilat (1400m). The private little road to our house is a dirt road (80m). It is very easy and pleasant to go by foot to the shops of the village.

From our house, it is a short walk to the shops of the village. At 10 or 12 minutes by car, you will find attractive shops with local food or wines producters. Lyon, the second city of France is very easy to reach by car and it takes 40 minutes with the highway for discovering this nice city and its museums (20' by train). Vienne, an ancient gallo roman city is distant from 12 minutes from our village and its market on saturday is one of the biggest in France. The very famous international jazz festival is at the beginning of july and at this period the city is particularly attractive with many cultural events. Sitting in the old roman theatre, listening to outstanding jazz musicians is great ! From our home, you will be able to go to Provence in 2 hours, Mediterranean sea in 3 hours, to Savoie and Pays of Mont Blanc in 2 hours and a half and to Paris and Disneyland Paris in 2 hours from Lyon by the TGV train. The Mont Pilat that you can see from the garden toward the west is easily reached for nice walks during an afternoon....The Rhone valley with local or famous wine producters is very close, and the Beaujolais is distant from about 1 hour. At least the area of Lyon is the capital of gastronomy and many "starred" restaurants are easily reached...

It is important for us to find our house neat and tidy when we come back. It would be nice to complete the automatic watering by a manual one in case of hot weather. We are commited to doing the same in the exchanged house.
