Notre maison

Description de notre maison d'échange

Our spacious, newer home is located in the town of Wasaga Beach, the heart of southern Ontario's Great Lakes vacation country.
This is one of Ontario's favourite summer playgrounds for families of all ages. For the kids, 14 km of sand beach and warm fresh waters of Georgian Bay will provide a lifetime of exciting memories. Canada's Wonderland is a little over an hours drive away.

Not to be missed if you're thinking of a summer exchange is the Collingwood Elvis Festival (http://collingwoodelvisfestival.com). The town of Collingwood is 10 minutes drive to the west and has been hosting this event for 20 years now and attracts tens of thousands of spectators. For 4 days every July the best Elvis Tribute artists in the world try to capture the title of World Champion. Easy day trips to Toronto, Niagara Falls, and a multitude of cultural events and attractions make Wasaga Beach a great year-round destination to consider.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours

We are only 2 minutes away from the world's longest freshwater sand beach, on Lake Huron's beautiful Georgian Bay. Surrounded by inviting golf courses, (you have the use of my clubs), this area is home to many tourist attractions, such as music festivals (including Collingwood's world famous Elvis Festival, and the weekly Jazz-in-the-Park Series), walking trails, salmon fishing, horseback riding and boat cruises. The Bruce Peninsula and the Niagara Escarpment are a short drive to the west, and the changing tree colours in the fall are spectacular. Niagara Falls and the nearby wine tours make a terrific overnight side trip. Within a 2 hour drive, Boat cruises among the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay and the beautiful Muskoka Lakes region are a great way to explore the Canadian Shield that the Group of Seven have made so famous through their paintings. So much to see and do in this part of Ontario.

About 2 hours south is Toronto, with the Royal Ontario Museum, the Ontario Science Centre, the fabulous Toronto Zoo and all of its other attractions. Canada's Wonderland (a Disney-like amusement park) is 1 1/2 hours away, and the Niagara Falls tourist and wine areas are within a comfortable drive from your home base. If you'd like, take in a Blue Jays game at the Sky Dome or the Toronto Raptors of the NBA in season.
