Read More...Events and circumstances have conspired against us and regrettably Kevin and Corinne have been unable (so far) to visit Nelson, NZ. We really hope to return their generous hospitality. Their house was ideally situated for our needs; walking distance of the overground station and buses, Hatch End is a delightful suburb with good restaurants and shops, the neighbours were so friendly and welcoming, the kitchen was easy to "operate" and we had the added bonus of dear old Phoebe, the cat ... sadly no more. The real icing on the cake was discovering the amazing coincidence that Corinne and I were old schoolfriends from more than 40 years ago!

Read More...We loved every aspect of this exchange. A slight change of plan meant that Corinne and Kevin were there to welcome us and a lovely warm welcome it was. The newly extended kitchen/ family room with double bifold doors meant that we could watch birds, squirrels and in the field beyond the garden, cattle grazing and yes, this was London. The front windows looked out on a city street, the back on countryside. Perfect. The house itself was ideal. A real pleasure to come back to after a day of exploration. Corinne and Kevin had given every thought to our comfort and convenience. Lots of info about the house and maps and tourist info for getting about. They had even left Oyster Cards for our use. Great as we hadn't organised them in advance. Phoebe the cat was no trouble to care for and tolerated her insulin injections without a fuss. We visited the London Eye for the first time. Well worth it. Although they don't seem to have a formal way of dealing with disabled visitors, when they spotted Malcolm's walking sticks we were fast-tracked. We also really enjoyed our visit to the Heath Robinson Museum in Pinner. No working models but the range of drawings and illustrations is incredible. The little church in Pinner is absolutely charming too. Good local shops and restaurants meant that a day at home was also a workable option. We loved every moment of this swap and would love to do it again. So much to do, so little time to do it. Thank you Corinne and Kevin.

Peter, their neighbour was very kind and helped us settle in. Their extension is very spacious and you could spend all your time there as its so comfortable. The views through their bifolding doors is superb and you can spend ages just admiring the view. They also provided detailed instructions for everything you would need to enjoy your visit. A great home swap and one we hope to do again!

Read More...We loved staying in Kevin and Corrine's home on the edge of London, and we highly recommend exchanging with them! From their home it is an easy walk to the Hatch End area with shops and restaurants and the train to the city center. But the view out back is lovely garden and countryside. A walk over stiles through the field brought us to the charming village of Pinner and the local library, with blackberry picking along the way. So we had the best of both worlds! The house itself is very up to date and was spotless. Kevin and Corrine left us lots of brochures, travel books, and maps to help us plan our stay, and their very kind neighbors on both sides helped us out whenever we had questions about the house or the area. My children loved the excellent bonus of taking care of Phoebe the cat, who accepted our presence with pleasure and lots of cuddling. We traded cars with Kevin and Corinne as well and drove for a three day trip to Stonehenge, Bath, and Bristol as well as several day trips.

Read More...We are so grateful to Kevin and Corinne for initiating us to what a good home exchange is. They communicated thoughtfully and clearly before our exchange began and offered great travel tips during our exchange. Their home in Hatch End was very tranquil compared to the hustle bustle of London and we enjoyed returning every night to its comforts. The beautiful new kitchen and family room were our primary hangouts and we loved to peruse their numerous (beyond numerous!) books and articles and maps for possible excursions on the big pine table overlooking the garden and cow pasture. We found the location ideal because it is so close to an overground station - a few minutes walk- with trains going directly to central London. The house is also very close to the main street in Hatch End , a lively street with at least 22 restaurants! We thank Kevin and Corinne again for a wonderful exchange.

Description de notre maison d'échange
We live in in an Edwardian house which has many original features, including fireplaces in most rooms.
On the ground floor we have a living room, a large kitchen/family room and a small utility room. The next floor comprises of three bedrooms, study, bathroom and shower room.
The back of our house is south facing and we have an attractive view of open farmland (it is the nearest farm to central London). We feel privileged to have a rural view whilst having the conveniences of living in a major city.
Our road is exceptionally quiet, despite having shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk.
We have a sociable cat, Phoebe, she is elderly and is now mainly a house cat, so requires a litter tray. Our neighbours will feed her if you are away.
We are offering in exchange a VW Golf, which has a manual gearbox.
