A little about us. We are a semi-retired couple. Lorraine has worked at the local university for a number of years and Ken has worked in a government Department for longer than he likes to admit to. Both of us have also worked in more isolated parts of Australia at different times. We're quite flexible with dates and location as we are currently on extended leave from our jobs.
We've done a lot of travelling over the years are now keen to spend somewhat longer times in some new places so are looking at alternatives in locations and accommodations. We haven't house-swapped before and are excited at the prospect of starting to do so now.
There are no pets to look after in our place.

Description de notre maison d'échange
This is an older but large house set in a quiet neighbourhood in the University town of Toowoomba, Queensland. A back gate opens from the garden directly onto a park.
The house is interesting in layout and has a large garden area to relax in. It has upstairs and lower-level informal lounge rooms, and a separate dining room. The house is set up for 2 adults who have occasional overnight guests. The master bedroom is on the lower level. There is a queen-sized guest bedroom, second bathroom and toilet upstairs. One room will be locked for storage. The main bathroom on the lower level has convenient grab-rails in the shower and by the toilet and its shower is easily accessible for someone with mobility difficulties. The house has 5 stairs at the front, 10 stairs leading to the laundry set in a separate building and internal stairs leading upstairs. If stairs are a problem this may not be the place for you, though anyone used to 2 storey houses probably wouldn't find this a problem.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
The house is close to local shops and is about 3 kilometres from the CBD. Local bus service stops are close by.
Toowoomba is located 125 km west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane. The estimated population of Toowoomba is around 160,000. Toowoomba is known for its public parks. It has a local university.
You will find Toowoomba has a full range of facilities including very good cafes restaurants , medical services, a regional library, cinemas , large swimming pools and a new airport. The Carnival of Flowers held annually in September is very popular with visitors alike.
Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast/Noosa are easily reached by car for weekend or day trips and there are national parks and other places of interest within relatively easy reach - as well as a local wine growing region about 2 hours south
There are good daily bus services between Brisbane (including Brisbane international airport) and Toowoomba. Buses can be caught to other destinations.

Ce qu'on apprécie, ce qu'on apprécie moins… Voici nos préférences et nos règles de maison.
We're fairly flexible with dates (starting from mid-2017 onwards) and location as we are currently on extended leave from our jobs.
Non smokers please. If you can water plants and run a mower over the grass and generally keep the place ticking over that would be great. We know you will treat the house and garden with the same care you treat your place and we of course will do the same.
