Notre maison

Description de notre maison d'échange

Our home is a 2 storey residence only 50mt from a beautiful white sandy beach that is safe for swimming with a Lifeguard station at the end of the street. The living area is modern, comfortable and spacious with timber floors and opens to a fully fenced pool and entertaining area. It reflects the beach lifestyle with open planned living, gourmet kitchen and covered bar-b-q area. There are views to the ocean from the upstairs verandah.
The upstairs area has a very cosy TV room, a study/office and 1 queen size bedroom and one twin and a modern bathroom with separate shower and toilet. There is an additional toilet downstairs and fully enclosed shower with hot water outside which is great after a swim. There is internet access and wifi, 2 televisions, washing machine and dryer and a clothes line. The car is in a garage and the property is secure with fence and gates.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours

Our neighbourhood is mostly residential and we have great neighbours. Being close to the beach it is busy on weekends and holidays but not noisy. We are within easy walking distance of excellent coffee shops, restaurants, a boutique brewery, and a village style shopping strip with a supermarket, 2 bakeries, newsagent, surf and clothing shops. There is excellent public transport at the end of the street and the light rail is about 3km north. Bike paths run both north and south of here and there are many parks and great walking paths along the beach front. Some of the best shopping malls are very close and there are fresh produce markets each weekend, supermarkets, shops for beer and wine and all the items you will need to make your time here fun. A sample of available activities a short walk away - Movie Theatres, a Casino, Yoga classes, Gym, Surfing, Sailboarding, a swimming complex and beautiful beaches.Theme Parks like Seaworld and Movieworld are a short drive away.

From our house there are coffee shops, restaurants, bars and a boutique brewery all an easy walk away. There is the choice of Indian, Thai, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Mexican and Australian restaurants and many are BYO so the cost is reasonable. There are also liquor outlets close by and many take away food outlets. As these places are a 10 to 15 min walk away, there is no problem at our place with noise or parking disturbing the peace. Our best attraction is the beautiful surfing beach only a few metres along the street and this is patrolled during summer for safe and supervised swimming. There is a world class Shopping Mall- Pacific Fair, a Casino, weekend market including an organic one and a young designers market every second Sunday all close enough to walk to. The Surf Clubs also provide good eating and drinking with views over the ocean and there are 3 nearby. You can manage without a car and can venture further afield using the bicycles.

We are looking for exchanges and are interested in Great Britain, France, Italy or New Zealand for a month in April/May or September/October where there is plenty of walking/hiking and villages to explore. We are able to offer non simultaneous so northern hemisphere exchangees can come here in our summer as we prefer not to be in Europe or GB in the winter. While we prefer not to have children, we have come to an arrangement with exchangees in the past so we are prepared to negotiate. Our home is strictly a non smoking zone both inside and out. We have a dog and have exchanged with a couple in Germany where we looked after their dog and it worked well so we would negotiate a pet care situation and perhaps have our Labradoodle cared for here in the right circumstances. We have a pool and have someone come in to care for it while we are away. We have a lovely herb garden for use by anyone who is here and the rest is low maintenance.
