The large city of Hamburg is about 1 1/2 hours away (car or train). World famous harbor, museums galore, musicals, shopping, dining out... we usually take the train. „Niedersachsen Ticket“ costs less than 30 € round-trip for a group of five. Trains go once an hour.
Oldenburger Land is horse Country. Riding stables and breeders are everywhere around the city.
Beach Club Nethen is another great summer location: sandy beach on an artificial lake for swimming, water ski, water jump park, stand-up paddling, little boats, etc.
Museums featuring historic buildings and local history displays are in Cloppenburg and Wiesmoor, for example.
There are a few golf courses around Oldenburg.
Teenagers may also enjoy indoor black light mini golf, escape room adventures, laser tag arena (all in Oldenburg), cart racing (30 minutes away)...
