Dear Beth and dear Jim, Thank you very much for your hospitality. The days have passed by in flight, we have experienced so much fun and new. We explored downtown Annapolis with the W. Paca House, visited the Naval Academy, attended a baseball game by Bowie Baysox (the boys even got a baseball gift here), and at the Maryland Int. Raceway to the car race, visited different beaches and were extensively shopping. Also in Washington we were several times and are still thrilled with this great city with all its possibilities and attractions. Also our road trip to the Niagara Falls was unbelievably breathtaking. On the way there we visited an Amish Farm and ate there very delicious. In Niagara Falls, we were even in Canada for the first time, Markus and Dad flew by helicopter, we made the boat trip and were on all observation terraces, where we were really wet. The holiday was full of unforgettable experiences and we thank you wholeheartedly for having a home in your beautiful and cozy house. It was a pleasure to meet you. We had a wonderful holiday in Beth's and Jim's comfortable house: The combination of being in a historic house in the city center (walking distance to all major sights, shopping streets, cafes and restaurants), the view of the nearby creek from the front porch at the end of the day and the peace and quiet of the surroundings was marvelous! We came to Annapolis by chance (actually we just wanted to be somewhere near Washington!) and ended up finding out what a lovely city the capital of Maryland is. We had the pleasure to welcome Beth and Jim in our home the day before we left, which was great as it gave us the opportunity to see that we left our home and pets in the hands of warm hearted and reliable people which made us enjoy our holiday even more! Just perfect!

Notre maison

Description de notre maison d'échange

Our home is a Victorian, circa 1890, in the Historic District of Annapolis, Maryland and in the city center. It is modern without losing the charm of it's period of construction. We have a large garden, brick patio, and are steps from the water.

Annapolis is 25 miles from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland and is easily accessible to both. It is also convenient to other major U.S. cities such as Philadelphia and New York City. They can be reached via public transportation or car on major highways.

For those interested in the American Civil War, some of the major battlefields of that conflict are close to Annapolis and easy to visit; Gettysburg, Antietam, and those in Virginia.

Many outdoor activities can be enjoyed from our home; local parks, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic beaches and hiking.

We are both retired IT professionals; Jim in Telecommunications, Beth in Computers/Telecommunications. We are experienced travelers and home exchangers.

Annapolis is a small, walkable city full of history and charm. It is the capital of Maryland and was the original capital of the U.S. after the American Revolution. In fact, Maryland's current State House is the original State House from the time it was a colony under British rule. Annapolis is on the Chesapeake Bay and has strong ties to the water and sailing traditions.

From our home it is a short walk to City Center and the busy City Dock and harbor. We are also close to other business streets where you will find restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, galleries...... All the amenities that a small city has to offer. We are close to some of the historic attractions of Annapolis; the State House, St. Anne's Church, and colonial homes as well as businesses offering sport activities; sailing, windsurfing, kayaking.... And we can't forget the US Naval Academy which offers a wonderful museum with a world renowned model ship exhibit.
