Description de notre maison d'échange
A family home with five bedrooms, four full bathrooms and a spacious open kitchen, a total of 260 sq. meters. We are in a quiet residential neighborhood in Palo Alto, adjacent to a small park and several blocks away from an extensive city park and community center. A bedroom suite (private bathroom) and an office bedroom are on the ground floor; the master bedroom suite, two smaller bedrooms and another bathroom are upstairs. The modern kitchen has plenty of workspace featuring a stone-topped island, two sinks, two ovens, and is open to the dining room and living room. A large redwood deck wraps around a sun room/family room. The garage houses our bicycles, washer/drier and freezer.

This pleasant residential neighborhood is home to people from all over the world, attracted to unsurpassed high tech, education and research opportunities. Friendly neighbors mingle at our adjacent park (Ramos Park) and nearby community center Mitchell Park and Library). Children flock to the marvelous new Magical Bridge playground in Mitchell Park. It is a short walk to a good grocery store and coffee shops. Our house is on the Ross Road Bicycle Route, connecting to the city's biking network. We have very easy access to Highway 101 - the major north/south freeway on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula. However Palo Alto's tree-filled neighborhoods shield us from traffic noise. Please note that Palo Alto is served by the commuter train line between San Jose and San Francisco, although most visitors rely on driving for most excursions.

Palo Alto is the heart of Silicon Valley and the home of Stanford University. San Francisco is 35 miles north, about an hour by car or train. There are so many attractions in Northern California within a day's drive: Napa Valley wine district, Monterey Bay, the Big Sur Coastline and Yosemite National Park. We can walk to restaurants,grocery stores, parks and the Baylands nature preserve on San Francisco Bay. Palo Alto hosts two year-round Farmers Markets on weekends. The Santa Cruz mountains (about 2000 foot/ 700m elevation) with redwood forests and hiking trails are a short drive to the west. The Pacific Ocean is just west of that coastal range.
