Museum of the Rockies (dinosaurs) and Montana State University are close by. Bozeman has 50,000 people, including 16,000 univerisity kids. Great eating, drinking, hiking, bike riding. Bridger Bowl Ski Area 16 miles. Big Sky Ski Resort 46 Miles. Fish Madison and Gallatin Rivers. Hike beautiful Gallatin forest areas within 20 minute drive. Sumertime floating on the Madison River is really fun.
We are 90 miles from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park--a great day trip. The wildlife viewing in the park and Old Faithfull Geyser make this worth the drive. The copper mountain in Butte is 70 miles away, which has a fascinating history of mining disasters, union busting stories, and Irish immigrants. Glacier National Park is 350 miles north of Bozeman but is certainly worth an excursion. The Going to the Sun Hiway is a spectacular drive but is only open during the summer. Red Lodge is 90 miles away and is the starting point for driving the Beartooth Pass, which Charles Kuwalt said is the most scenic drive in America.
Custers Last Stand National Monument is about 180 miles east of us, and is a must see for western history buffs.
