We are a small family of four.
The parents: Kåre (41) is a computer scientist working at the State and University Library in the area of digital preservation. Trine (40) has a degree in marketing management, but is currently a stay-at-home mom.
The kids: Ellen (10 - born March 2008) and Karen (8 - born January 2011) are both attending school.
The pets: Kaylee - a beagle. She'll either come with us (by agreement, of course) or stay with family. Anyanka - a small, tortie rescue cat. We will arrange for her to be out of the house if you prefer it. The fish - the fish (guppies, cherry barbs, harlequin rasbora and dwarf suckers) in our 54l/14gal aquarium needs to be fed once a day, but can manage for a few days without food if need be.
We have had five successful exchanges through HomeExchange, but decided to move to HomeLink due to the changes made after they were bought by GuestToGuest. We believe that an exchange should be about reciprocity and trust - not about points and putting a value on each home.

Description de notre maison d'échange
Kid friendly home with fenced garden in small town between Aarhus, Randers, Silkeborg and Viborg.
Our home was built in the late fifties, but had the kitchen and bathroom renovated in 2003-2004 and in 2013 we added two new bedrooms as well as a bathroom with bathtub.
You enter the house in an entry with plenty of room for shoes and jackets, some of the racks are in children height. In the entry you will find a washing machine and dryer as well.
Up two steps you enter the kitchen with dining space for five. Dish washer and microwave help to make life easier.
The kitchen opens into the living room with a dining table which sits 4-10 persons, a large corner sofa, a 42'' flat screen TV with Netflix, a wood stove and an exit to the the garden.
From the living room you'll find a hallway leading to four bedrooms; one with a double bed and two with single beds (can be used as bunk beds), one of those has direct access to the garden as well. There are plenty of room for an extra mattress in the kids rooms. The last bedroom is used as a library at the moment - we have quite a lot of books - but if you need it, we'll make sure that there's a bed availiable. There are also two bathrooms; one with a shower and one with a bathtub. So if your kids can share rooms, you can easily stay here with four kids.
The garden is closed by hedges and is mostly grass with some flowerbeds and a greenhouse with a few vegetables. There are two terraces with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. We also have a large sandpit, some swings and a trampoline, so there is plenty to do for the kids.
We have two bikes for adults (one with electrical helper engine) and kids bikes in various sizes up to app. 10 years.
The house is strictly non-smoking. Feel free to smoke outside, but not inside. We have a small cat, Anyanka. If you like it, she can stay. She's pretty low maintenance - food a couple of times a day, water and a clean litter box. We can also make other arrangements for her, if you prefer that. We have a dog as well - a beagle called Kaylee. She'll live with friends or family while you're here. And lastly we have a small aquarium. The fish needs to be fed once a day, but can go for a few days without food. You're more than welcome to bring your pets - we love all kinds of animals.
And of course there is wireless internet throughout the house and most of the garden.
Cleaning service might be available depending on our cleaning lady's vacation.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
Our house lies on a very small road with only 7 homes, but still in the middle of Ulstrup, a small town with app. 1.800 inhabitants.
In the town you'll find two grocery stores, a florist, a pizzaria, an inn, a public library and a few rather nice playgrounds at the kindergartens and at the school. A few kilometers away you'll find a campingsite with pool, playgrounds, canoes etc. Day guests are welcome.
It's a very quiet place - not a lot of noise and pollution - you can sit on the terrace the entire day just listening to the birds chirping.
In the vicinity (one kilometer) we have the longest river in Denmark: Gudenåen - River of the God - with excellent fishing opportunities. Salmon, trout and pike are the most common fish in Gudenåen. We don't fish ourselves, but have neighbors and colleagues that enjoys fishing in the river. Of course we would be happy to help you find more info on buying a license to fish either in the river or in one of the many lakes within 30 km.
There is a wooden path along parts of the river, making it easy and comfortable to take a walk there. A beautiful place for an evening stroll.
There is a lovely forest a few hundred meters south of the house and a lot more within five km and if you drive the 30 km to Silkeborg you'll find one of Denmarks largest forest areas - a truely wonderful place. (Also a great place to go geocaching.)
Canoing or kayaking is great here. We don't have white water rafting, but cosy and safe trips for the entire family on lake, river or both. We don't have kayaks or canoes ourselves, but the nearest place to rent them is only 2 km away.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
A more cultivated natural experience is to be found in Randers, where Randers Regnskov (Randers Rainforest) will give you a tour through the jungles of Asia, South America and Africa. Definitely worth a day - we come there all the time. There is a great outdoor playground there as well
Should the weather be too hot, there are several outdoor public pools within 20 km.
There are a few amusement parks and zoos within a couple of hours driving range. Which kid wouldn't love to spend a day in LEGOLAND?
If you play golf, there are a few courses in the vicinity. We don't know anything about golf, but please ask, and we'll do what we can to help you.
If you're into art, you'll find the Asger Jorn-museum in Silkeborg (30 km) and Aros in Århus (50 km). There several more museums within 50 km - please don't hesitate to ask.
NY Times has just listed Århus as number 13 on their list of 52 Places to Go in 2016.
Travel+Leisure's Nathan Heller calls Århus "Europe’s next hot-underground-grown-up-scruffy place to be."
Lonely Planet had Århus as the second best European destination in 2016.

Ce qu'on apprécie, ce qu'on apprécie moins… Voici nos préférences et nos règles de maison.
We prefer a primary home with at least two bedrooms and rather three. We prefer a garden and don´t mind caring for plants both indoor and outdoor. We like most animals (arachnids excluded!) and have on previous exchanges been taking care of rabbits, fish and even bearded dragons. We don´t smoke.
Smoking is not allowed indoor in our home, but you can smoke in the garden if you like. Feel free to bring your pets - the garden is fenced to keep a beagle inside.
Depending on the time of year, it would be great if you could water plants. Most outdoor plants will be connected to an automatic irrigation system, but they need to be checked once in a while. On the upside there will be plenty of tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs and other good stuff. :)
Depending on the distance from Denmark we would like to exchange cars. We have a Honda Jazz from 2011 with automatic transmission and booster seats from 15 kilo.
