We are a recently retired couple, our sons have departed the nest and we now have time to explore interesting places. We have both visited, and enjoyed, New Zealand and wish to go back, especially to visit friends in South Island. We plan to take our golf clubs with us!

We were warmly welcomed and over coffee and cake we were lucky enough to get to know each other personally. Tony was very helpful with lots of tips and so our trip to London by train was a great trip. We have very fond memories of this holiday. Barbara and Tony are great house swappers - thank you for getting to know you!

Description de notre maison d'échange
Standing well back on the elevated southern fringes of the small town of Warminster, not far from open country, yet within easy reach of the town centre, with its excellent shopping and a wide range of other amenities including a theatre, library, hospital and railway station with regular service to London - Waterloo (via Salisbury).
The house was built to our design in 2007. It is modern, comfortable, spacious and warm, with underfloor heating throughout.
Upstairs, our house has a large double bedroom with bathroom. Downstairs, another twin/double bedroom and its own shower/wetroom. The house can be offered as fully accessible, including for wheelchairs, as the front door and the whole of the downstairs was built with accessibility in mind.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
A junction on the nearby Warminster by-pass, only some 350 meters away, provides swift access to the A36 and A350 Truck Roads and hence to local towns including Westbury, Trowbridge, Frome, Bath and Salisbury (which are all within 45 mins driving time) or further afield, whether coast-bound or to explore interesting cities and attractions.
Situated beneath the chalk downland, with its abundant flora and fauna, Warminster lies on the edge of the Salisbury Plain, close to Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The town itself was founded as a centre of the wool trade and as the market town on the Salisbury to Bristol road. These days it is fully bypassed so not subject to heavy levels of through traffic.
Shopping facilities are located close to the town centre and, after parking up, can be visited on foot; there are no out of town ("car required") shopping areas. The town can be readily accessed on foot from our house, being just 10 brisk or 15 leisurely minutes' walk away or quick 'n easy by bike.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
Longleat House and Safari Park are just 5 minutes away away. Stonehenge and Stourhead are both approx 20 minutes.
Slightly further afield (between 20 and 45 minutes can be found Salisbury, Bath, Kennet and Avon Canal.
45-75 Minutes drive will give you access to Bristol, the Cotswolds and the Jurassic Coast (stunning and interesting south coast, with many impressive chalkland cliffs, between Poole and Weymouth). Glastonbury is also worth a visit, not least to hike up to the impressive folly atop Glastonbury Tor
Warminster is excellently located, more-or-less half way between London and Cornwall, not far from the main trunk road linking the two (A303) and the main A36 and A350 truck roads run right past, giving swift transport links in all directions..

Ce qu'on apprécie, ce qu'on apprécie moins… Voici nos préférences et nos règles de maison.
We are looking for up to 4 months in New Zealand (South Island) between December 2024 and April 2025. We are happy to consider a number of exchanges within that period. We will of course respect any home that we are offered. Our only expectation is that our guests will treat our house with respect and enjoy the quiet times as well as the busier ones!
We are happy for children above the age of 13 to stay in our home (sleeping in the bedrooms we offer), but as there is not an option for an age preference, we had to tick "No children please"
