We are active retirees who enjoy the delights of our garden, the countryside locally and making the most of music, theatre and other activities in Manchester city centre.
In the last 8 years we have enjoyed home exchanges in Australia, where we have family, in New Zealand, South Africa and the United States, and in several European countries. As well as holidaying on our own, we have enjoyed UK and European exchanges along with grandchildren and other family members.

It was easy and worth to go to Manchester by train, we did it twice, and the station is also only 15 min to walk. We loved to sit on the terrace with our cup of tea and look to the birds and in the cultivated garden, which is actually a recreation area. We made some tours with the bicycles along the canals and loved it. Thanks to Judith and Tony for being so generous and uncomplicated hosts. We can recommend this homechange very much.

Description de notre maison d'échange
Ours is a comfortable detached bungalow with delightful garden and close to delightful walking routes with stunning views. We are close to all amenities of Marple village and well located for visits by road and rail to the centre of Manchester and other local places of interest as well as many areas of outstanding natural beauty, popular historic locations and to other interesting towns and cities in Northern England and Wales.
Our home which is centrally heated, has a spacious lounge and separate dining room. There are 2 double bedrooms, sleeping up to 4, one with en-suite and a 'family bathroom' There is an office which has a fold-down single bed, particularly suitable for a child although it is adult-sized. There is a good sized conservatory to relax in, which opens from the lounge and overlooks the lovely garden. This offers two different areas, for eating outside or just relaxing. Bikes are available for your use and there are plenty of delightful walking areas to explore nearby. We have maps to help you.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
From our home in Marple, you can walk in 5 minutes to the village centre with a wide range of eateries, pubs and shops. There are two railway stations (each about 15 minutes walk) which connect with Manchester city centre and the villages of the Peak District as well as the city of Sheffield
There are walks for all tastes and abilities, some along country tracks and others along the intriguing canal system created in the 19th Century and still extensively used today. In every direction are beautiful views, many looking towards the Peak District, the National Park which is 'on our doorstep' and offers beautiful walking and cycling routes. Several interesting and useful bus routes into the hills and villages are very close.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
Our 20 exchange partners have enjoyed many different things in and near our area. Stately Homes and parkland: Lyme Hall and Park under 20 minutes, Tatton Hall and Park 35 minutes, Chatsworth House and Park 50 minutes; as well as characterful villages and industrial archaeology from the 18th and 19th century Industrial Revolution all around. The varied offerings of the City of Manchester are less than half an hour by train; the port city of Liverpool (a very popular destination with our exchangers) is easy by train or car (1 hour 20 minutes). The Roman and Medieval cities of Chester and York are attractive day trips – Chester just over an hour and York under 2 hours by car or train. We are only 25 minutes by car from Manchester airport (low-cost routes available across Europe) and 15 minutes from the national motorway network. A visit to the coast, mountains and castles of North Wales or the lakes and fells of the Lake District can be an easy day trip. Of Britain's 15 National Parks, 4 (Snowdonia, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, North York Moors)
are around 2 hours' drive or closer and the Peak District is only minutes away by bus or car. http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/
