We live in a large detached traditional house in the town of Dumfries, which is in the south west region of Scotland. The whole area of Dumfries
and Galloway is beautiful, (best known as the home of Robert Burns!) and it is also a great location for exploring other parts of the country. There is a never a shortage of things to do and see in this part of the country - walking, golf courses, beaches etc are all easily accessible, with the advantage of having all the amenities of the town on your doorstep (we are only 10 mins walk to the centre of the town). Dumfries is also in a great location to travel to other parts of the country and Edinburgh, Glasgow, Loch Lomond and the Lake District of England are all within 2 hours drive.
We have a lodger at the top of our house. He is a really nice chap and has been with us for a number of years. He can feed the cats (Paddy and Rodney) if you are staying away from home a few days. His apartment is self-contained. He uses the main door and staircase, and the washing machine approx once a week in our kitchen. He is very quiet and is out working most afternoons and evenings. If an exchange in October 2024 there is also the use of a friend's lovely house in Glasgow for part of the time.
