We have 4 tickets for a Loreena McKennitt concert in Paris on the 18th March 2024. Would you like a few days break in March to get away from the city and visit Brittany?
We are a retired couple, healthy enough to do most modest active activities. Marie is French, I am English. We have three grown up children who have flown the family nest and we enjoy family reunions. We have had several successful exchanges and like the freedom of discovering things for ourselves. Our exchanges have been very varied and the opportunity to blend into another environment for the space of two weeks is our motivation.

Description de notre maison d'échange
Kervannes is a small hamlet at the heart of farmland just outside Pont l'Abbé. Ty Bihan Laë is the renovation of one of the farm buildings. The cottage has a downstairs sitting / dining space with wood burner a kitchen and a shower. Upstairs there are three bedrooms. A more recent extension has an en-suite bedroom and garage.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
Kervannes is part of the farm that used to be run by Marie’s parents and grandparents. Four other people live in the hamlet. Marie and I spend more and more of our time there and are very busy with the upkeep of the farm buildings and land. The first thing most people notice when they come to Kervannes is how calm everything is and it is true that there is little noise pollution and no light pollution. We seem to be in the middle of nowhere and the presence of the chapel at the beginning of the road and the fact that the land is still considered to be farm land means that this situation is not likely to change. And yet, Pont L’Abbé with its castle, lake, river and weekly market is only 3 kilometres away. Here you can find everything you need in the way of shops, services and cultural activities. Further afield- 10 kilimetres south and west - is the Breton coastline with its numerous beaches including the world famous surfing paradise; LaTorche.

Pont L’Abbé and its area is a tourist attraction in which Breton culture and folklore live on: the main atttraction being the annual “Festival des Brodeuses” where Breton music, costume and dance delight the eyes and ears. If you are more modern than traditional then you might be here during the “Vieilles Charrues”festival : Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young featured because of the idea that a small town called Carhaix could become the centre of the modern music world for a few days. Crozon, on the West coast of Brittany is also famous for its world music festival and Chateauneuf du Faou, in the heart of Finistère, also has its annual jazz festival. Pont L’Abbé is also the central point for any excursions to the coast with several long sandy beaches all within 9 kilometres including the world famous headland “La Torche” which holds stages of the surfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddle world championships. Fishing ports to visit are Le Guilvinec, Loctudy, St. Guénolé and Lesconil. Locronon, famous for a scene in Polanski's "Tess " and Pont-Aven, where Gauguin and friends lived and painted.
