Two bedroom house in an ideal location 5 minutes walk to beach, shops/cafes/pub and station. "Cosy contemporary" feel with log-burner, beautiful hardwood floor and wooden blinds. Sheltered garden with large covered deck area and furniture. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge-freezer etc. Easy to get to Central Wellington on quick, modern train service ( 40 - 45 mins), close to the highway for car-based trips, local airport 10km. Local interest: walking/cycling tracks, railway museum/ heritage steam trains, impressive car museum and wildlife sanctuaries. A lively and diverse community, the local halls have interesting gigs & cultural events, tennis courts and bowling practically next door, golf courses, etc. Wellington is easily accessible for a day or evening with larger scale museums, cable car, botanic garden, shopping, concerts and galleries, along with lots more cafes and restaurants. The nearest wine region - the Wairarapa - is an easy and enjoyable day trip.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
Paekakariki is a lively and diverse community, it is very friendly and packed with interest and facilities but still quiet and peaceful.
The pub and cafes give you handy eating options and its easy to meet locals. Apart from the beach (5minutes walk), there are tennis courts and a bowling club practically next door, bike tracks and hiking starting from the village and a couple of golf courses nearby.
A lot of musicians and artists live here so there are interesting (cheap) gigs and cultural events at the local halls, make sure you watch the notice boards. There is an arts trail through the village etc. There is a small but interesting museum in the old Railway Station buildings and a heritage rail workshop which runs steam train outings regularly. Wellington is easily accessible for a day or evening with its larger scale museums, cable car, botanic garden, shopping, concerts and galleries, along with lots more cafes and restaurants. The nearest wine-growing area the Wairarapa makes an interesting and enjoyable day trip.
Paekakariki is very well connected, as well as the railway there is a local airport and state highway making it easy to head off to the South Island or tour around more of the North Island.

All the towns and villages on the Kapiti Coast have their own character, particularly the beach communities are worth exploring. Central Wellington is easy for a day or evening outing and the Wairarapa makes an interesting day trip or two with its wineries, and boutique shopping.

- Southward Car Museum - even if you are not interested in cars its surprisingly good!
- Nga Manu Nature Reserve - Kiwi ,Tuatara , up close with Native Birds in the walk-thru-Aviary, and eel feeding.

- There are lots of leaflets on walking and cycling tracks in the Wellington Region in the house

- The Wellington Cable Car, Botanic Gardens (and cafe), Observatory, Cable Car Museum are all in one area and make a good trip. The Botanic Garden Cafe is very good.
- Te Papa Museum - Terracotta Army and Gallipoli Exhibitions
- Wairarapa Wineries - Greytown and Martinborough. You can book on an organised tour, or hire bicycles there, or have a designated driver.
