We are a family of four: Marta, Philip and our two kids, a boy and a girl, currently 13 and 11 y.o. We live in Dublin, Ireland, but I am Italian (from Rome) and so we speak Italian at home and the kids are growing up bilingual. Philip works in the energy sector, while I write travel websites about exploring Rome and Italy with kids. We love spending time together as a family and we have many interests: in our free time we love to read books, hike, the kids play music, us parents take dance classes but most of all we like to travel. The kids love it too and have been traveling and home swapping with us since they were tiny. Our first change was in Canada when they were 4 and 2! We have been on 7 home exchanges so far (some via a different platform) and they've gone really well, we recently had again one of our swappers families as we became good friends! We took a bit of a break for a few years but now we can't wait to organise the next one! We live in Dublin but we both lived abroad and loved it and we are looking forward to having a taste of it again. We hope we can offer you a home away from home too, and can welcome you here! We can travel during school breaks (usually mid February, Easter, Summer) and weekends and for 2024 we would love to go to Sardinia (near the sea) or somewhere coastal in Italy or Greece, anywhere in France and we're open to weekend swaps in Europe.

Description de notre maison d'échange
Our home is a lovely townhouse in a green and quiet estate. It's on three levels, with kitchen / living area downstairs, 3 bedrooms on the second floor and a play-room/office in the recently converted attic which is lovely and full of natural light. It has a nice, enclosed garden with grass, a patio area to eat out and a BBQ.
We live here with our two kids and this is very much a family home, very child- friendly. The area is green and safe: shops, cafes and a beautiful park are 5 minutes walk from here and the bus stop to the city centre is just in front of the estate: you can get there in about 20 minutes, on a direct bus line.
Local shops include supermarkets, pharmacy, deli shops you can reach on foot. In summer our local park hosts a weekly market as well which is very popular with local families and a lovely day out . The area has a nice community feel and many families live here, there are several school and a wonderful local feeling, yet staying super close to the center..
The house is bright and colorful and all appliances are new as we've recently renovated the kitchen. The house is perfect for a family as it has 3 bedrooms: one master bedroom en-suite, a room with one child bed and one smaller room with a single bed, a desk and bookshelves. We have 2 upstairs bathrooms and one guest bathroom downstairs. The attic works both as a room with the kids toys (lego, cars, trains, teddies, arts and crafts supplies etc) and office since both of us work most of the time from home.
The house has cable TV, Netflix, Disney+ and Wi-Fi as well as washing machine, dryer, dishwasher etc.
Our area is the perfect base to explore Dublin but also the rest of Ireland. Dublin is a lovely city for a family: the centre is compact and walkable and it has many museums and attractions for both adults and kids (I have a list I usually leave for our guests with our favourite things).
The Dublin and Wicklow mountains with their beautiful hikes are a short drive away and the beach is easily accessible too by public transport. At this time we are unable to offer a car exchange.
We have two cats but they'll be in the pet hotel during our swap so you won't have to look after them.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
We love our neighborhood: it is the perfect combination of city living and suburban calm! It is green and quiet but also very well serviced with shops, cafes, some really good restaurants and a small library. Dublin city centre is a stone throw away and you have easy access to all the entertainment options it has to offer, but none of the stress of busy city centre streets.
It is an older part of town so there is a lovely community feeling here and it is very safe, while not at all boring! Shops include supermarkets, deli shop, pharmacy and wine merchant. Sports facilities such as gym and a swimming pool are nearby (open to non-members too).
We are only 15/20 mins by bus from the city centre, on a direct bus line (actually 3 direct bus lines), 15 minutes from the big Dundrum shopping centre and 30 mins from the Dublin mountains and Wicklow County, fantastic for its hill walks and lakes.
One of the great things we love about living here is that you don't need the car: from the house, you can walk to the park, restaurants and shops in 5 minutes and the buses will bring you into Dublin city centre very quickly.
As well as good access to the city centre, we are a great base to explore Ireland: being already on the South of the city, you can access the motorway without worrying about rush hour traffic and can quickly reach most parts of the country. We have space for one car in our driveway should you be renting one.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
Our home is in a family friendly neighbourhood, very well served with shops and with a fabulous park. We have several restaurants nearby, some very good! Our favourite are Revolution pizza (pizza, craft beer and more), Vermillion (Indian) and Foam (for brunch). Dublin city centre is a short bus ride away too and there you have an incredible choice of places, from traditional pubs to modern and fusion options. We love our area as it has the best of city and suburbs: you are never far from cultural events and the busy city centre but you can also ignore it and simply relax should you feel so inclined - we are lucky to live here: it is a very sought after area and it is beautiful and convenient. If you wish to explore the rest of Ireland, this is a god base too. Easy day trips are to the Wicklow mountains and the coast but you can easily venture farther afield (we can discuss exchanging the car, if you wish). This is a great location for families with kids especially and you will meet many local families in the area.

We make a big effort to leave the house to our guests in the best shape and we will do the same with yours: we expect the same from our guests so thank you for leaving the house clean and tidy as you find it. This is a family neighborhood so please no parties or loud noises - we have a great relationship with our neighbours and would love to keep it as such.
