Mary werkt full time bij ministerie van Defensie als inkoper. Buiten dit werk is zij sociaal bezig met vrijwilligerswerk zoals het verzorgen van een Bingo in het buurthuis, kledingbeurzen en op ziekenbezoek gaan. Bridgen is een geliefde bezigheid van de afgelopen 30 jaar.
De kinderen zijn inmiddels het huis uit.
Het huis is in de jaren 30 gebouwd en ligt aan de rand van de stad. Er zijn nog wensen om het huis nog mooier te maken, maar het is een groeiend proces.
Poes Lucy is een geliefd huisgenoot die veel plezier geeft.
Vakantie vier ik graag met zus Nicolien (50+). Meestal gaat een vriendin (60+) ook mee als dat mogelijk is. We vinden dat een prettige combinatie. Nu de kinderen op zichzelf zijn en niet meer mee op vakantie gaan.

Description de notre maison d'échange
Nice great family house with sunny garden, near centre. Nearby there are nice restaurants near a small canal called Vaartse Rijn (on walking distance). For children there are 2 playing fields nearby. A small shoppig centre is just around the corner which has a supermarket (ATM inside).
Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands, and very centrally located. It has a lot to offer, the city has a lot of historic sites. It is about 30 minutes to Amsterdam, either by car or by train. We are in a development area on the Amsterdam site of town. Public transportation is very good in the Netherlands, and can bring you almost anywhere it,s very easy going to Paris or London.
I like to go on holiday with my sister Nicolien (1961) and friend Tiny (1952). We are three ladies.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
Het is een rustige buurt met goede voorzieningen vlakbij. Het hart van de stad is slechts een kwartier fietsen van ons vandaan. Maar voor wie dat niet wil, de bus rijdt door de straat en brengt je naar het centrum. Omdat we aan de rand van de stad wonen is het goed en mooi fietsen hier in de omgeving. Ook met de auto ben je zo de stad uit op weg naar de bestemming.
Er zijn genoeg winkels vlakbij zoals een supermarkt, drogist, bloemist en apotheek. Dat is slechts 200 meter lopen. Erg makkelijk.

In about 100 meters you will find a a supermarket and a pharmacy and nice other shops. For a restaurant you can take the bike for about 20 minutes or take the bus to the centre of the city. You'll find very nice cafe's and restaurants all over the centre especially near the canals. But even nearby there are nice restaurants near the water Vaartse Rijn, walking dinstance. There is a walking lane and there you'll find the restaurant Op zuid. https://www.opzuidutrecht.nl/nl. Little further away on the Vaarste Rijn (walking other direction) you can find more restaurants like Het Ketelhuis, De Zagerij, WT Urban city, LE:EN and Little Berlin (look at google maps)
Just 2 streets away you'll find a very a large second hand shop called De Arm.
For the children there are two playing area's nearby. First just two street away and the other one is a little larger and has a pool (only in summer). The large one is protected and closed in the evenings. In the house map you'll find more details.
