This home exchange we enjoyed very much and we can recommend very much exploring Genk and it’s surrounding. Limburg is a very interesting area and we loved staying in the cosy and welcoming house of these very nice and helpful people Lieve and Peter.
When we were at home, we lived mostly in the veranda a sort of winter garden. It is a warm room that can be opened but with grids against wasps and mosquitos, open to the garden, the flowers in the pots. We often watched the cats that were playing together or we saw them laying in the sun.
Just behind the garden is a wonderful big reserve “de Maten”, with its beautiful moory landscape with lots of ponds, heather – just a place where we loved to go several times. But we loved to discover towns too, such as Tongelen, the oldest town of Belgium. Two times we spent a whole day in the very near, really big and good Open Air Museum Bokrijk, where it was very lively with people living in the houses, teacher, pastor, policeman, brassorchestra in action.
We loved our tasty eggs every morning and became friends with the animals, the chickens with their rooster, the two house cats, the joung neighbor cat and now after two weeks we still miss them.
This swap was a really great success, and when we came home, we were very happy to find our house so clean, all our plants in the house well cared.
We wish Lieve and Peter all the best and that they will experience many other home swaps wherever they like to go.
Andreas and Margrit
