We are an active family of 5. Paulien is 10 years old, Tuur is 8 years old and Bas just turned 6 in December. Nelis teaches social sciences at secundairy school, Lies teaches adults about transport and logistics. Our kids have lots of energy and love to bustle around so we prefer to visit area's where we can discover nature and culture.

WE FOUND AN EXCHANGE FOR SUMMER 2024
Our house is a charming 1920s house with small garden in quite neighbourhood near the city center. This is the ideal place to start a discovery of Antwerp and the whole of Belgium. We live 15' walking distance from the train station, 10' from the tramway. The highway is 10' away.
The ground floor has a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with adjacent dining room with a large table accomodating 10 people.
On the first floor we have a bathroom with shower, bath and toilet. Next to the bathroom is the adult bedroom and the library with play area for the kids.
On the second floor we have the 3 childrens bedrooms. Two bedrooms have a bed that can be turned into a double bed.
You can enter the garden via the french windows of the living room or via the kitchen back door. The garden has a playing pen and a 'treehouse'.
We rent a garage nearby where we keep the bikes. You can use all of them, including our cargobike.
We recently sold our car and now we try to do everything by bike or public transport. We live and work very close to home. If need be we use a car from a sharing platform.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
We live in a quite neighbourhood close to parks, train station (also international trains), public transport and the highway. Even though we live close to the city center (15 minutes by bike or public transport) our neighbourhood feels a little bit like a village in the city. People know eachother, we have lovely neighbours.
Antwerp has a beautiful medieval city center with cobble stone streets, grand town houses and a famous cathedral where you can see some paintings from Rubens.
Antwerp is perfectly located to explore the rest of Belgium and the neighbouring countries. Gent, Brugge, Bruxelles is only 30 minutes away by train or car. You can reach Paris with the Thalys train in 2h, Londen with Eurostar in 2h, Amsterdam with Thalys in 2h.
The 'sinjoren' are known for being bon-vivants. Antwerp has numerous good restaurants, cosy bars, cute bistros and great terraces.

When you are tired of window shopping, rest your feet and try one of 100 kinds of Belgian Beers in one of the bars. Make sure to pay a visit to 't Paters Vaatje.
Get familiar with the high fashion of the Antwerp Big 5 in the Nationalestraat. Don't forget your visa card... You'll need it!
On hot summer days, get some refershment in the natural pool in Boekenbergpark or find some shadow in park Den Brandt, Rivierenhof or very close to our home; Brilschanspark.
Antwerp is the ideal starting point to explore Belgium. Make sure to visit Bruges, Ghent and Brussels.

Our house is almost 100 years old, and sometimes has it own character: some doors shreek, some handles need a special touch.
Please note we have three rather small children so our house is functional and lived in rather than an immaculate show home!
