Description de notre maison d'échange
The house is bigger than you should think at first sight. Living, modern kitchen, restroom and sunny patio are on the basement. The first floor has one big bedroom en a smaller one with a single bed and 2 matrasses. A bathroom with toilet, bath and shower. Second floor has a duplex room with two double beds. Another office room contains a couch which can be transformed in a bed for one or two. The cellar contains a dryer and a washingmachine. Central heating. Near public transport/old cultural and very lively city, nearby parks, play gardens for children and public transport. Interesting safe multicultural area. Modern comfort in a beautiful street with big trees in a lively neighbourhood. A lot of accomodation for adults and children, some plants to take care off. We have very nice neighbours in the whole street. Market in front of the door on Saturdays, shops are everywhere nearby! This district is close to the city of Antwerp, a historical and cultural lively shopping city on a stream, 'de Schelde'.

Our street has big trees in the middle and several parks in 5 minutes walk . A very lively area with a mix of people of all kind. Twee cultural centers for theather, music and other events, as well as a library. Great Belgian café's and restaurants close by. . All kinds of shops and supermarkets closeby. a lot of public transport, trainstation and sharing cars possibilities. Highways are not far at all. Our area has been build around 1900 with historical worldinheritage on a walking distance (Cogels-Osylei). From Berchem you can go wherever you want...and don't forget the historical citycenter of Antwerp, small enough to be cute and big enough to offer opportunities on different places...

De Zoo in Antwerp is worldfamous, just as the open air zoo Planckendael; de harbour and our stream de Schelde offer interesting visits; you can walk and bike starting from our home. . You can watch movies, theaters, concerts outdoor. De Middelheim park has a famous cultural outdoor museum, and Berchem offers - beside Antwerp itself, one of the best restaurants of Belgium, 'The Jane'. The last years Berchem, one of the 9 districts of Antwerp, is called the new Brooklyn, because of the multicultural mix of talents creating tiny shops, cafés and other events in all peace. For one day visit you can go to Brussels, Mechelen, Gent, nature places and even to the coast by train to look at the special see coast of more than 60 km.
