We love our home and would be happy to share and swap it with you.
We love the SEA even more and are looking for a house in May/June 2020 close to the sea where we could go surfing, windsurfing, kiting and the kids (5,3, and 6 months old) could go swimming. We try to avoid flying for ecological reasons, so somewhere in continental Europe where a train goes would be perfect!

Description de notre maison d'échange
Our loft in Berlin Mitte could not be more central and more quiet at the same time. Our floor-to-ceiling windows face a huge park, a beautiful old indoor swimming-pool, and an old church. There are two balconies, one offers seating for meals outside and the other one has a cozy bench with a view into the treetops of the park. We are a family of 5, so there is a fully equipped children's room (bunk bed 2x 90/200 cm + single child bed 70/140 cm) and all the necessities that go with children (cutlery, chairs, beds, walking-bike, bobby-car....). If you come without kids, all the kids stuff could be easily hidden in the children's room and you have a perfect Berlin Mitte loft for two. The centre of the apartment is the spacious loft-style living room with 4 meter high ceilings, an open kitchen block, two sofas, a piano, a bureau, many books (sorry, no TV) and a huge dining table for 6 persons. When you open the huge glass door to the balcony you feel like sitting outside. Same in the bedroom where you can see stars at night. Since we are in a backyard it is very quiet. There is a green garden with a sand pit including lots of toys, table tennis and apple trees. (The backyard leads to the street, so younger kids still need supervision.) Next to our house there is an indoor swimming pool with 50 m lanes (more for sports, than for kids with regards to the water temperature).

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
Our apartment is located near the Scheunenviertel, one of the oldest and historically most important parts of Berlin. The Berlin synagogue is just a 5 minutes walk, same as the Mauer Gedenkstätte/memorial site. Although you won't hear any car noise in our apartment, it is just a stone throw to all the popular bars and restaurants Berlin Mitte is famous for (Torstraße, Rosenthaler Platz). Two streets away is Auguststrasse with its galleries, famous for its gallery weekend. Public transport is right in front of the yard entry (bus, subway, S-Bahn). One the biggest inner-city beach volleyball courts is 5 minutes away. Next to our house is an indoor swimming pool (50 m lanes). There are many playgrounds - our kids' favorite in summer time is the Nordbahnhof Plansche: a Berlin style water playground with fishes that spit water...
This is Berlin centre so there a lots of Spätkaufs (24/7-shops) where you get all you need around the clock.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
A perfect Saturday in our "Kiez" (as they say in Berlin) starts at ARKONAPLATZ - great playground even for elder kids and one of the oldest and best fleamarkets in town. Then take a walk to ZIONSKIRCHE where you can climb the church tower and have a splendid view over Berlin. On the foot of the church is DAS FRUCHTHAUS with the most beautiful dresses, sixties style. Quick stop at TEUTOBURGER PLATZ playground and then pizza at DUE FORNI - we call it the "punk Italian" because it is loud, delicious, wild and kids are very welcome. Stroll down to Haeckescher Markt, grab some "Zimtschnecken" at ZEIT FÜR BROT for a picknick at KRAUSNICKPARK after some shopping in the area, called SCHEUNENVIERTEL, one of the oldest parts of Berlin. Krausnickpark is a little green paradise within the urban centre of Berlin, so do not tell too many people. Stroll through MONBIJOU PARK afterwards, watch some boats pass by at the Spree and listen to some streets musicians at the bridge in front of the BODEMUSEUM. Finish the day at GIPSDREIECK with some white wine or beer from HACKBARTH'S. You can take your glasses to the playground as a sundowner and have some pasta at SIMON or MOZARELLA BAR.
