Description de notre maison d'échange
Just 1block from the park that overlooks the Painted Ladies Victorian homes (the “Full House” house), the 2-story walk up condo sits on a lively commercial street - bars, restaurants, a big adult arcade, and music venue. Because the unit sits in the back of the building, you’d hardly know you’re steps from the action. It’s nice and quiet.
The neighborhood sits pretty central to the city, so you’re only a 10 to 15 minute bus ride to other neighborhoods like the Mission, Japantown, North Beach, and the Haight. Uber/Lyft are obviously faster. Or take advantage of how small and walkable this city is and travel on foot.
The unit is small, only 307 sq. sf. Tall 13 ft. ceilings, an open concept kitchen, and a lot of windows that drench the apartment in light make it feel more comfortable. Everything but the shower in the unit has been remodeled on Feb ‘19.
Sorry, no wi-fi or cable TV available - just bunny ears for the TV and I use a wireless connection to play video from my phone on the TV. A retro gaming device is attached if you want to play Nintendo or Super Nintendo games, like Mario Kart. ;)
No air conditioning, but SF almost always cools down by nightfall and rarely gets exceptionally hot. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom and the windows can be opened to create a breezeway. Also no heater aside from a ceramic plug-in unit. Again, rarely needed with SF’s temperate weather.
Communal washer and dryer on the second floor. Quarters only - $1 to wash, $0.75 to dry.
Access to a small backyard although only 2 chairs and a table. It’s mostly a garden.
For full disclosure, a cat lives with me in the apartment but I maintain a clean home, so there should be no odors or traces that a cat lives here. I will have the cat stay elsewhere during the swap.

Description de notre quartier et ses alentours
Rapidly gentrifying neighborhood in the Western Addition (realtors are trying to rebrand it “NoPa”) with a mix of high end, low-end, and everything in between. It’s San Francisco though, so everyone dresses casual to everything. Bars, restaurants, entertainment, and a recreational cannabis dispensary are all within walking distance. The nearest traditional grocery store is about a 15 minute walk, although there is a small, high-end grocery store across the street and there are a few bodegas around for basics.
Alamo Square park is just a block away and the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park is a short 10 minute walk.
San Francisco as a whole is a pretty safe city (I’ve also lived in Philadelphia and Chicago), but this particular neighborhood is exceptionally safe, even after dark. We do have a couple homeless people who roam the area, but they’re all harmless.
There are 7 bus lines within a short walking distance - 2 that are practically on my doorstep - that will get you going north/south or east/west. The neighborhood is pretty central, so it’s a short bus ride to most other neighborhoods. Or use a cab or Uber/Lyft or a bike/scooter share program.
Friday & Saturday nights are a lot of younger people. The neighborhood itself trends older.
If you listen carefully, at night you can hear soft horns of ships in the bay.

Nos conseils pour des restaurants, cafés, shopping et activitiés à ne pas manquer
Located on a busy commercial corridor for mostly bars, cafes, restaurants, and hair and nail salons. There are only a couple shopping options, although one of the last remaining city board game and comic shops are located on this street.
The Independent music venue garners semi-known acts and the Emporium Bar hosts area DJs on the weekend.
Situated close to Alamo Square park and The Panhandle portion of Golden Gate Park, which is good for running, setting a picnic, or playing basketball.

Ce qu'on apprécie, ce qu'on apprécie moins… Voici nos préférences et nos règles de maison.
With the exception of dirty towels and bedding, leave the unit as you found it. Be respectful of the neighbors - this is a quiet building and everyone likes it that way. Please take your shoes off at the front door to avoid walking on carpets. San Francisco’s streets are pretty dirty.
There are records and a record player. Feel free to play them, but handle with care. They aren’t all in good shape, but they are still important to me.
