Our house is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood located just outside Richmond, Virginia, about a 2-hour drive or train trip from Washington. It was constructed in 2002, is very comfortable, with up-to-date appliances. For a couple, everything needed is on the ground floor. For larger groups, additional sleeping accommodations are located upstairs. There is a large-screen HD television, a good high fidelity sound system, and high speed WiFi. The house is equipped with a backup electrical generator that starts automatically in the event of an electrical power failure. In summer, much of our time (meals, games, socializing) is spent in the gazebo in our woodland garden. At cooler times of the year, the sauna is an attractive feature. Washington, DC, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Atlantic Ocean beaches are all within a 2-hour drive.
