I am father of two kids (12, 10) and work as professor in bioinformatics at technical university of Dresden, Germany. In my spare time I paddle in a dragon boat on the river Elbe. I love arts, modern dance, arthouse movies, jazz, and cooking. I lived in London and Lisbon and speak English and Portuguese.

A very nice houseswap in a very nice city
We had a fantastic house swap in Dresden. Michael's apartment is located in a very nice neighborhood. Perfect cycling distance to the city center along the river Elbe. It is a practical and spacious apartment. We received a good description and valuable information ahead of the exchange. Dresden is a beautiful city with cultural treasures and a moving history. We felt touched by the city's unique cultural treasures from the Baroque era, to the horrors of the bombing in 1945, and the DDR era and finally the reconstruction after 1989. We are impressed by the Germans' ability to rebuild their country. We will recommend Michaels flat and Dresden to other house slapperes. This was a very nice experience. Sigrun & Torkil

Spacious apartment in charming neighborhood
If you get an opportunity to exchange your home with Michael Schroeder in Dresden, you are probably as lucky as you can get in this great city. Michael’s apartment is located in one of the most attractive areas with very impressive historical buildings and big old trees. The apartment offers a spacious modern kitchen, two comfortable bathrooms and two living rooms along with two balconies from which you can enjoy meals and a view of the park. The three bicycles take you along the Elb River and across the old charming bridge to a lovely Parisian neighborhood on the other side. Don’t miss the nice little local restaurant there. There are so many interesting things to see in Dresden and coming back to the classy apartment only adds extra value to the Dresden experience.

A great place to visit Dresden
We had very good holidays in Michael's home, which is large and bright, with an attentive decoration in a charming and peaceful area. It's a perfect location for family holidays, just beside the Elbe and the Blaues Wunder, with beautiful cycle paths, several Biergarten, convenient shops and a cinema, and a very easy access to the center of Dresden (where you can find a lot of museums, castles and architectural sightseeings) as well as in the German Saxony (with wonderful views on a great nature). Our communication was easy. Many thanks to you, Michael, Ella and Nico for these holidays and the good care you took about our home, plants and cat :-)

High ceilings (3,40m, 11ft), 4 bed rooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bath rooms, shower and bath tub, two balconies. Split-level. Note, the master bed room is accessible through a spiral staircase within the flat.

The flat is opposite a park with tall oak trees. There is a playground nearby with soccer and basket ball. In the park, there are many people walking their dogs - so it is ideal if you bring your pet. Just a few meters from the flat are two very nice restaurants including the Stresa, ranked 4th for Dresden on Trip advisor. It is a 10 minute stroll to the river Elbe with many cafes, beer gardens, cycling paths along the river into the center, and a pier for a ship into town or into saxon Switzerland. The historic center can be reached in 20 minutes by bike, 10 minutes by car or tram.

Take a stroll to Schillerplatz, have a first coffee at Charlotte's Enkel walk over to Schillergarten, have a beer and look at the river Elbe and hills with the vineyards and the three castles. Take a cruise liner into the historic city center and visit the famous church of our lady, the Zwinger with its art collection, the green vault with jewels and nicnac. Eat next to the church and in winter visit Germany oldest christmas market and in summer join in for open air cinema with the city's skyline as backdrop. Spend time exploring the direct neighbourhood with its magnificient mansions and of course visit saxon switzerland for hiking and climbing and nordic sky in winter.
