A whole new living area with modern architecture, outdoor facilities, restaurants and a marina has been risen close by our place, right beside the fjord. The lively, historic city center is close, you can walk there in 20-25 min or take a short bus ride. Just a few meters up from our house you enter a hiking area which offers spectacular views over Bergen and towards the sea. The area is very suitable for trimming as well. There are quite a lot of hiking opportunities around Bergen as it is surrounded by seven mountains, two of them with funiculars. All tourist attractions in Bergen center (fish market, guided tours, boat trips, the World Heritage Site Bryggen, etc. ) are best and quickest to be reached by public transport, some by a nice walk. Bergen has also cultural offers; museums, art galleries and music.
By car, you can go to a climbing park near Bergen, fishing tours, swimming and recreation areas, and the fantastic fjord and mountain regions around Bergen and in the county. Nature is very close. We have camping gear if you want to stay out for some nights - you are allowed to camp almost everywhere in Norway! And, as long as you stay nearer to the coast - no mosquitos!
Bergen is touristy, and there are offers throughout the year including combined boat/train trips (Norway in a nutshell) and tailored, guided tours.
