Waihi has a population of 4000.It has a supermarket and a reasonable selection of shops.Medical and Dental services are excellent .The whole town is surrounded by hills,which makes it very attractive.There are numerous walks nearby.Waihi is part of the national cycle trail,and bikes are available to hire from the sports shop.
There are a range of cafes ,takeaways,and restaurants.11km away is stunning Waihi Beach,which is safe for swimming and surf casting.15 min by car is the beautiful Tauranga Harbour.Bigger towns such as Thames and Tauranga are less than 1 hr away.
The famous Coromandel Peninsula is just north of the town,and is very attractive.The beaches on the Coromandel are stunning,and the mussels are delicious.
