We were delighted to stay at Bill and Lucille Selfridge’s home in Dumfries, Virginia, in early April 2022. All of our prior online connections were clear, inviting, and helpful, as was our arrival day greeting that included a local tour and homemade dinner along with friendly conversation. Their home is spacious, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. It provided a welcome rest between busy times in our lives, and the location was great for nearby day trips with a variety of goals (from forest walks to shopping to historical museums and sites). We had visited the nation’s capital region many times before, so concentrating closer to Dumfries was wonderful, and we didn’t need Bill and Lu’s offered transit cards, maps, and D.C. suggestions. Instead, we explored the other piles of local information that they provided! The friendly neighbors were an added bonus. This exchange was an opening step as the Covid pandemic was hopefully waning, and we looked forward to hosting them in our capital region of Victoria BC Canada later in the summer. That portion of our exchange is now completed, and we’re happy to report that they took great care of our house and car, as we had anticipated!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 weeks at Lucille and Bill's home in Dumfries, Virginia. We found the house to be very warm and comfortable and we especially liked and used the outdoor deck along with the use of their pool at their leisure centre which is truly a great amenity to have nearby. Lucille and Bill are seasoned exchangers and this is evident in their preparation for a home exchange. Everything was thought of which ensured we had a great holiday. Lucille and Bill ensured we had lots of information about things to do and see and were always available via WhatsApp to answer any questions we had. We were most grateful too to meet their friends (two lovely couples) who ensured we got to and from the airport in great comfort. It was a pleasure meeting up at our home in Dublin before Lucille and Bill's departure to the US. We would highly recommend an exchange with Lucille and Bill to their lovely home.

Both Bill and Lucille's home and DC were a great experience among my various swaps Bill and Lucille came and welcomed me at the DC station, prepared a sweet diner and showed me everything around. I was traveling alone at this time but everybody in the community was very friendly and I never felt alone. I loved the house, enjoyed the community swimming pool and was able to reach the marvellous DC by bus Everything OK, I can warmly recommand Bill and Lucille as very well prepared and kind exchangers, Dumfries is a good spot to visit Virginia
