Once, as France was part of the Roman Empire, Bordeaux was the capital of the aquitain Gaule for 200 years. In the Middle Ages, it became capital of the Duché d'Aquitaine. Nowadays, Bordeaux is the capital of the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Through the ages, it builds its fortune upon its famous wines. The old city's architecture is a pure example of the "grand style" of the 18th century, but testimonies of its medieval past remains as narrow streets and old districts.

In Bordeaux's downtown, many lovely cafés and prestigeous restaurants are ready to welcome you ! You can go shopping to the Sainte-Catherine street where you can find most of the famous french brands. Moreover, you can take nice walks around the town to admire the architecture and the monuments or to enjoy the cool atmosphere of the banks of the Garonne.
Outside from Bordeaux, you can visit the famous wineries of Bordeaux and their beautiful castle in order to taste the wine and take pleasant walks around the nature. Plus, the sea is less than an hour away by car. You can also take a train to go see the Bassin d'Arcachon and taste its oysters.
