Read More...We stayed two weeks at Francesco and Cinzia’s beautiful and spacious apartment in Verona. From there we explored Verona on foot and using the excellent and cheap bus services. The location on Via San Marco was great as we could walk to the piazza at St Zena’s Cathedral where we tasted excellent food and wine which was nicely priced. We also walked to and from the Arena where we attended to great concerts. A train trip to Bologna for the Banksy Art exhibition was a further highlight. The apartment, which thankfully had air conditioning (very hot this year in Verona), was perfect for our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed our interactions with Francescoand Cinzia during our stay at their place. A great exchange.

The apartment is very well appointed - two bathrooms (vital), great wifi (extremely vital) - and worked perfectly for us and our two teenagers. There is a large balcony which was great to sit out on later in the evening to eat and have a drink. Italy was VERY hot when we were there, and we were very grateful for the efficient a/c in the flat. We were also very appreciative of the variety of snacks and well-stocked fridge our hosts had left for us! Getting into town was easy, using two bus routes (mostly air conditioned), and there is a lovely local district (San Zeno) with great restaurants and ice cream ten minutes away on foot. The local information that Francesco provided was extremely useful and communication was excellent both in the run-up to and during our stay. Verona is a beautiful city with so many interesting cultural and historic sites to visit as well as other towns and Lake Garda easily reachable by train. A wonderful swap in every way.

Verona is a beautiful city with many great sites to visit and it was the perfect pied à terre to discover the region. Thanks to this exchange, we discovered Mantova, Padova, Vicenza and Venezia, which were easily accessible by train. And because you trusted me with your car, we were able to visit a parmesan factory near Modena, roam through the hills of Valpolicella and hike at Lago Garda. We will come back to the States full of wonderful memories that will keep us going once school starts, and once winter is upon us. Arrivederci! Sophie

Read More...One of the joys of home swapping is being able to spend two weeks getting to know a city which we might otherwise only have visited for a long weekend. Verona definitely merits much more than just a pit stop. We were still finding surprises on the last day of our holiday. The Rossini family's spacious apartment is well appointed and equipped and is conveniently located in a quiet neighbourhood just outside the old city walls. The roomy balcony/terrace is perfect for outdoor family meals and benefits from a pleasant breeze in the evenings. In cooler weather, we would have walked everywhere but the frequent no 11 bus was a comfortable way to get to the city centre in the heat - a 10 minute ride to Piazza Bra and the Arena (Roman amphitheatre) and even quicker to the main railway station. Our sons used the electric Lime scooters and Verona bikes which were always available just round the corner from the apartment. Our car free holiday included easy day trips by train to Venice, Brescia (for the impressive Romanesque cathedral and Roman ruins) and the cooling waters of Lake Garda. Vicenza and Padua were also on our list but we over relaxed! Highlights in Verona were the opera in the Arena, the views of the city from the Roman theatre and from the top of the funicular, and walks along the river by Castel Vecchio. We enjoyed sampling traditional Veronese cuisine and the excellent local wines and ice cream. Special mentions go to the Rossinis' super helpful neighbour, Michelle, to the Antica Pasticceria on via San Marco for delicious breakfasts and sweet treats, and to the Double Clutch basketball shop (our older son's idea of paradise). Grazie mille to Francesco, Cinzia, Frederico and Lorenzo for their friendly hospitality, helpful notes and tips and great communication throughout and for leaving our house so clean and tidy. This was one of our most enjoyable swaps to date. Very best wishes from Anne,Tim, Will, James and Maja.

It's perfectly situated within walking and biking distance to the old historic, and very beautiful, city of Verona. And at the same time it's very easy to leave the town by car or by train and reach quite shortly the Garda lake and the picturesque countryside around. Very easy also to reach the amazing cities of Mantova, Vicenza, Padova and even Venezia. We also spend some nice evenings on your nice balcony eating and reading. Once again a splendid Italian experience. Best regards from the Salling family from Paris !

We just moved into our new apartment in August 2020 and we really love it!
Great neighbours, a wonderful terrace to eat and relax, plenty of sunlight, no noise from other apartments. So happy to be here.
We are open to short weekends exchange both in Italy and in Europe.
We live in a very quiet area with shops, restaurants, pizzerias and supermarkets nearby.
100 mt from bus 11 that will take you straight to the Train Station and to the center of town (Piazza Bra, where the Arena is). But you can easily walk (we recommend it, it's a nice promenade) or use the nearby bike sharing service.
Our brand new house has a big terrace to relax, a living room + kitchen to prepare and enjoy Italian meals, 3 bedrooms (1 double for the parents and 2 bedrooms for the kids) and 2 bathrooms.
If you need it, we also have a couch that can be used as a double bed and in the kids' bedroom there is an additional bed (bringing the total number of guests up to 8).
We can offer you wifi connection all around, but we chose not to have a Television. You can use our laptop, if you need it.
Verona is definitely a place to visit in Italy: it is the location of the famous Romeo and Juliet, in summer you can go to the Arena for some opera, you can sit in its nice squares and sip some of its famous red wines (Recioto, Bardolino, Amarone, Valpolicella, Soave) or just wander about visiting monuments of different ages...
It is recognized by Unesco as a World Heritage Site (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/797).
If that is not enough, it is close to other amenities like Garda Lake with its many amusement parks (the most well known being Gardaland (www.gardaland.it), Canevaworld (www.canevaworld.it), Movieland (www.movieland.it), Zoo Safari (www.parconaturaviva.it)), Venice, Milan, Mantua, Vicenza, Padua...
We have an electric car (Kia e-Niro) and a wallbox with a type-2 plug in our garage.

We live in a quiet neighborhood. In front we have a playground and next to the house the bus stop.
Not far away there is a swimmingpool, while a little farther you can enjoy the San Zeno neighborhood with its romanic Church.
In less than 10 minutes walk you can reach a couple of supermarkets (Lidl, Migross) and a few more (Esselunga, Interspar, Conad) if you fancy to walk a little more.
Bus 11 will take you to the Train Station and to the Arena. Or you can just walk.
In front of the house there is the bike sharing service.

Not far from town you have Garda lake with its leisure parks ((Gardaland, Movieland, Caneva World, Nature park, Sigurtà Park) and olive oil to taste.
If you're into wine, this is the place for you: Amarone, Recioto, Soave, Lugana, Bardolino, Valpolicella are all made around Verona.
Not far you can easily reach, either by train or car, Venice (no introduction here), Vicenza (Palladio's Olympic Theatre is a must), Padova (Giotto's Scrovegni Chapel), Mantua (with its lakes).
We are all talking about places deemed to be a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
A little farther away you can reach Milan, Florence, Bologna or some beautiful mountains.
And, after all this sightseeing, some shopping at famous Italian brands outlets (Bauli, Rana, Calzedonia-Tezenis, Vicenzi, Aia, Bindi).
