Hi, we are Bart (26) and Jolien (25). We live in Deventer, a historic city on the banks of the river IJssel in the Netherlands.
In our spare time, we enjoy music, board games and films. In our spare time, Jolien plays the harp, while Bart likes to cycle or run long distances. Or at least, he tries to find the courage to do so. Bart works as a stakeholder manager in engineering consultancy and Jolien works as a freelancer in the film and event industry. Jolien was raised in quite a home-exchanging family. And since covid hit, we started to make some exchanges ourselves and decided to sign up for HomeLink. We are flexible in exchanging homes, whether that would be during weekends or during weeks.
We are currently planning a trip to Canada in winter/spring 2025. So if you happen to live in Canada and if you'd like to exchange with us, please get in touch!

We live in a nice and cozy apartment, just a stone throw away from a shopping center.
The medieval city center of Deventer is 10 minutes away by bike. In need of a bike? We have a few that you can borrow, standing in our storage space in the basement: We have two city bikes, a mountainbike, a trekking bike and a race bike.

We live within 10 minutes cycling from the city center. This medieval part of Deventer is full of small boutiques, nice restaurants, and a vibrant market square. Also within 10 minutes cycling, you'll find the train station, which has direct connections to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, Zwolle, Enschede, Arnhem/Nijmegen and (why not) Berlin.
Within 5 minutes walking, you'll find a park at the edge of the city. During twilight, try to spots some deer there!
The river IJssel is close by too, ideal for an afternoon stroll or a dive in the water.
Furthermore, the city of Zwolle, the Veluwe and the Sallandse Heuvelrug make nice daytrips.

In Deventer, you'll find every type of amusement a Dutch city has to offer: Cinema, Theatre, a beautiful (largest one in the Netherlands, we heard) city square with multiple restaurants, bars and clubs.

We like to come home to a clean house, no big cleaning is needed. Just the idea that everything is in place and a vacuum cleaner has gone through the house would be lovely.
Kids and pets are more than welcome, but keep in mind that our house is not 100% kids/pets-proof, so perhaps you should move a few objects higher up in closets. We do have our two pets ourselves: goldfish! Quite low-maintenance, but they do like food and a clean environment, who wouldn't?
