Gardabaer (http://gardabaer.is/tungumal/enska) town just south of Reykjavík (5 minutes drive) is located between Kópavogur and Hafnarfjördur. It is situated on land running from a low, uneven coastline to rounded hills and ridges with rough lava tracts, which divide it from Hafnarfjördur.

Gardabaer is largely residential, with some diversified manufacturing industries. The shoreline is made up of deeply indented fjords, bays and inlets.

Gardabaer has a lot to offer for nature lovers and sport enthusiasts. There are many beautiful hiking trails within the town limits and lake Urridavatn is good for bird watching with some rare species.

There are no less then 3 golf courses in Gardabaer, lakes and ponds for trout fishing plus an excellent swimming pool and sport facilities.

In the nearest neighborhood you can find several swimmingpools, golfcourses, The Design Museum of Iceland, a small lake (Vífilsstaðavatn, 2 km) and Heiðmörk (2 km), a conservation area which is one of Reykjavík´s most popular places to enjoy outdoor activities. All kinds of shopping is within short distances as well (f.ex. one of Iceland´s biggest shopping mall is 1,2 km away)
