The modern penthouse offers you not only a very comfortable living, but a fantastic view on the canal with boats going by or the silhouette of Mechelen. It is close to the city and train station, but also quiet and private. There are two terraces, an enclosed garden, a garage and bikes to use, all you need. We visited all the fantastic sights like Brussels, Antwerpen, Ghent, Brugge, Lier, Leuven and the coastline from Knokke to Oostende etc. That we did mostly by train or other public transportation, which is really very close, efficient and cheap. We also used their bikes, because the bike path runs in front of the house and takes you to nice surroundings and sights, too. So we had a really nice holiday in Katrien's and Johan's penthouse. They are a very friendly and helpful family and left our house tidy and clean. For a home swap they are the perfect partners.

We had a wonderful time in the house of Johan and Katrien. The house with the chocolaterie is unique and also beautifully located on the channel in Mechelen. We were able to leave our car and explore everything by the the bikes of the exchange familiy. The location is ideal, also the train station is just 5 minutes and is in 20 minutes in Antwerp. The city has much to offer, cultural and also shopping or relaxation areas. Katrien and Johan have prepared everything for us and have always given practical tips during the exchange. Thank you for getting our house back so well looked after. Special thanks for the loving care of the plants !!!

Katrien's and Johan's loft was the perfect starting point for exploring Belgium. We visited Gent, Brugge, Antwerp, Brussels and Leuven. The train station of Mechelen is about 10 min walk from the loft so we often took the train. Katrien gave me precise information about everything I wanted to know. We had lively chats on the mobile phone every day and enjoyed the largeness of their home. The trips to the North Sea (Knokke/Heist, Vlissingen, NE and De Haan) were great. The beaches are large and not crowded, the water fresh, the surrounding lovely. We enjoyed our stay at Katrien's and Johan's home every minute and can warmly recommend their hospitality.

Thanks for inviting us to your lovely home in Mechelen - we had such a great time. We travelled a lot - since your place is very central, but found plenty time to enjoy your house, your garden, your bikes and your city too.
